i have started my freshman football year during the summer and it went out great....but soon everything was really miserable...i like the game...exercises were not a problem all the people even the senior think i am a natural at football and physically gifted (like being very strong and pretty fast for my age) ...later during the year the coaches have been getting really angry at us...idk why..ti me its just a game but they just get to serious...i want to play to have fun...but it kinda sucks now...they said it will get fun later on but i dont think it will you know...last two freshman teams lost big time i guess they are really pushing us to win a lot ...i also have to miss 4-5 practices because of family reunions, welcoming home my dad from a 4 month out of state

work....and celebrate his birthday...all in one week...what i am trying to say is should i quit because i care more about family , friends , things that came first in my life that are important...and that i treat football as a game not something to fight over for...I plan on going to west point and soon into the marines or something in that nature so i dont give a d**n s**t about winning or loosing a game ...only to save lives, to end all wars, ect...i like football but only for fun...thx

  1. yes

  2. I wouldn't Summer Sesions suck hard, and I know the feeling your like why the h**l am I hear, all we do is run until we throw up, but once you get into a game it is the most exilirating feeling and the practices do get easier once the season starts because they dont want to have there players fatigued for a game, football is a game were you have to put up with a lot of c**p and you have to figure out if the rewards worth it, for me it is, but maybe not for everyone, the other thing is just tell your coach he should understand if hes not a dusch bag, and he may give you a hard time about it, but most coaches wont be too big of Duschs about it, so my suggestion is wait until your first couple games and deside if all that c**p is worth it, and I think youll make the right choice, and its a good path to college if your good enough

  3. I can tell ur heart isn't in it so u should quit

  4. I would stand up in front of all the coaches and all the players like in the middle of a talk about winning, and just say exactly what you think. just tell the coaches that football is a sport that was intended to be fun, and that there more worried about winning then having fun. And if they dont see your side, then i guess that team isnt worth playing for.

  5. Well you are young for one. And you need to do a little more research into where you want to go to college.  West Point is US Army Officer Academy.  If you want to be a Marine officer you need to apply to the US Naval Academy at Annapolis MD.  I understand that your family is important to you but you sound a bit whiny to me.  You are going to get yelled at in football even if you win.  Deal with it.  If you are a quitter then you are going to quit.  Dont make up some BS about your family to cover for the fact that you are a baby and cant take the heat of the game.

  6. I use to play football in freshman year too. & I also quited but for a diffrent reason. but anywayz i think you should quit cuz like u say that you juss like to play for fun & it dont matter to you if you win or loose. soo yea i think you should also cuz family comes first. soo in my opinion yea i think you should...

Good Luck on making a good choice!

  7. You sound like you should start playing Rugby it has the same physical aspect as american football, but its a lot more fun, just give it a try (you don't have to continue if you don't like it :D )

  8. You are clearly not committed to the team, your coaches or your team mates.  Yes.  You should quit now.  You will be saving everyone else a lot of trouble.

Once you get into high school, competitive sports are about results.  Not just "having fun."  Your coaches are "too serious" because it is their PROFESSION.

This is a life lesson for you.  This kind of attitude will never get you into West Point.

By the way, West Point produces Army officers.  Annapolis produces Navy and Marine Corps officers.  You should at least know that much.

  9. you should do what you think is best for you and dont take what people say that seriously

  10. It sounds like you have already made up your mind.  Just quit.  Or stop showing up; that way you'll avoid confrontation and won't have your feelings hurt.  Maybe have your mummy and daddy complain to the coach so you can miss practices and attend games.  And losing sucks, so tell them to not keep score so everyone can win.

Part of being on a team is working hard for each other.  You bust your butt in practice and work hard because you expect the guy next to you to do the same.  You become teammates, and you have a bond.  You earn respect among the guys on your team; something you can't buy, but if you have it, then it's priceless.  It means practicing in the elements and pushing yourself beyond what you think you can do.  It sucks at the time, but believe it or not, it does teach you life lessons.  You learn things that, when you become an adult, help you.  Show me a guy who never missed practice, and always gave 100%, and I'll show you someone who will be on time at work every day, and do the best they can.

It takes zero talent to show up every day at practice and work hard, but it takes commitment, guts, and strong moral character.  Ask bosses in today's business world if those traits matter.  Show me a guy who's been yelled at by a coach, and I'll show you someone who won't p**s his pants when his boss gets on him about TPS cover sheets.

It's a bit of a laugh that with this mentality you think that an American Military Academy (or the Marines) would somehow be a good idea.  You are aware how incoming first-year cadets are treated; I mean, you get all worked up because a coach yells at you; what happens when an upperclassman or one of your instructors gets into you?  Marine Corps Drill instructors, from everything I've heard and read, aren't exactly of the "let's hold hands and sing kimbaya" sort.
