  1. I would get it done professionally especially if your driveway has alot of cracks. The sealer that you buy will only last you a year or two while the professional one will last you around 5. Also one good thing is if you have a lot of cracks the company will fill them for you with a better quality crack filler then the one you buy. Basicly the professional way is better quality and will only take around 1h to do where as yourself could take you a day or two plus all the crack filling. Go professional its better and easier.

  2. if you have a 1/2 day to spend blackening your driveway then go for it. it is not rocket science, it basically painting.

local estimates from a home improvement store or from a contractor are most meaningful

    read the label for coverage

  3. Personally, I would do it myself, but I have always felt that if I can do it, I should do it.  Course that attitude sucked when I added a few inches of that blown in insulation.  Next time I may have to hire that one out.

  4. yes you can do It.  What does the grass have to do with it.  You have a 5 gallon can and spread it around with a special brush and spatula.  Its really easy.  Look on the 5 gal bucket and see how many square feet it will cover and then add 10%.  I think its pretty cheap.  I only paid $20+ for a 5 gal can.  If you have some low spots or spots that have drainage problems, you can buy some asphalt mix and fix those areas.  good luck-easy@@

  5. It's pretty easy, you just pour it on and squeegie it around, but leave  your pets and little kids inside or you will have permanent footprints else where!

Oh yeah, the more pits and cracks and dings in your driveway the more you will need.  If it has been done in the last couple of years get the recommended amount, if not, and it's pretty rough, plan on getting more than the recommended amount.
