1. you should go back! you have to finish what you started! even if you are behing, you will catch up quick.

  2. Horseback riding generally comes back really fast to people. I took a two year break (not sure why lol) when I was 14 and started again at 16. I looked like an idiot the first time i got back on but after about 10 min i started to get back into the rhythm. You will probably have to work slowly back up to the high jumps but everything else should be fine. I think it was the best decision I ever made to come back and ride again. Now I have my own horse (im almost 18 now) and I couldn't be happier with riding again. Just don't worry too much and ask for pointers from people just let them know that you have ridden before but you are just getting back into it. HAVe FUN!!!

  3. mabey you should think about if you really liked it

mabey not do any shows and if you do just try it and if you dont like it quit

  4. Of course you should start again. Obviously you wont be able to start exactly where you left off, but that shouldn't stop you. At the place I work at there is a woman who recently came out of a coma who had loved to ride. She had been an active dressage rider and after the coma had to relearn every thing, including talking. Since hten she's gotten back on horses and is improving rapidly. Just goes to show that nothing should stop you and you can work hard to get back to where you were.

  5. If you were sooooooo good before (like you make it seem), then you should be able to catch back up easily. If riding is something you love, I'd go back to it. If you only want to ride only for the bragging rights, then I would not. If you are still scared, take your recovery slowly. Good luck. :)

  6. I know how you feel I got nervous after I started cantering to it was wierd. But I kept with it and got thorough it. It doent matter if your far behind as long as you love what your doing. Donnt let the fear of being left out or being behinfd slow you down. Who knows you could be the next Beezie Madden.

  7. definitly! if you have this priveledge you should take it! like me, i absolutely love horses, but im not allowed to ride because its too expensive. i cry sometimes becuase im jelus of people like you who hav the wonderful experience that i would give ANYTHING to do. to me its not fair b/c some ppl do horsebackriding unwillingly while im over here yeling at my bedroom walls because its so unfair. so yeah you should take your chance now (mine was taken from me i was riding for 3 years and then my rents told me i had to quit.). btw my profile is wrong... i havent updated it since i had to quit

  8. If you really loved it and really want to get back into it I say have at it! Don't worry about getting back to where you were when your ready you'll get there. Take it slow and enjoy yourself. If you take it slow and only move up to more difficult or "scary" things when your ready for them then you should feel more secure. All of the sudden I got totally freaked by my horse and only felt brave enough to trot and I was jumping pretty good size jumps. I would just start crying, it was bad! But then we switched barns and now that never happens! My mom always says it's like riding a bicycle, you never forget. Good luck!!!

  9. I know your exact situation. I quit riding when I was 11. At age 13, I was handed a horse and told to be its mother (if you know what I mean.) I had stopped riding, not because of a bad experience with horses, but because I hated horse people. I now own a 16 year old American Saddlebred who loves me so much he'll jump anything for me, and let me tell you, he hates jumping (I only jump him on the slight occasion) I was unsure about getting back into riding, but once I did, I loved it and I'm still glad I did it. You should definitely get back into riding.

  10. Actually only you can answer that question. Are you more ready to start riding then before? are you less nervous about riding?

As for if you will be to far behind everyone, no you might not be. I've known people who just started learning to ride at the age of 20 or 30 or even 50 years old. It all depends on the individual.

I'd say that If you decide to go back to riding, then do so at your own comfort level. Don't let anyone push you doing something you aren't comfortable with yet.

  11. If you really are pasionate about riding horses, then go for it. it doesnt matter how far u are behind. u will eventually catch u. just make sure its something u really want to do and have fun with it.

  12. i think horse back riding is one of the best experiences in the world! so many people are not as fortunate as us, and never get a chance to sit on a horse.so... yeah! i totally think you should get back into riding!!

    ENJOY!

  13. YES! That is awesome talent, you will not be behind everyone, you will be exceling in front of them. You have talent, if as a 10 yr old you could do that, youre really good and shouldn't waste that talent!

  14. If you love it then go for it! I have a horse that does EVEYTHING and a a TB that is young and is still learning i have alot more confidence on him then any other horse lol Every loses there confidence! You will build it back up the more and more you ride:)

  15. go for it!

ride again, you wont regret it
