  1. I've never had to do this with pointe shoes, but for dance shoes in general if it's a class/practice pair, but some marbles (or something similar), hold it closed and whack it against something that's decently hard.  I don't know how well pointe shoes could handle that, but it works for jazz and tap shoes (with metal removed of course).

Don't over-do it because you do want them to last a while at least.  Just do it before first wear then your feet will break them in the rest of the way.

  2. I cut mine i have never ruffed mine up though so i don't know if you should or not but you should talk to you teacher about it he/she will know =^..^=

  3. Well, not too much.  It is, of course, very important to break your shoes in well before you dance in them, or it can be very painful!  One way to break them in is to wear them around the house, trying to walk normally or walking on demi pointe.  Also, use your hands to bend them a bit, to soften them up.  Bend them so that if you were to make a C, the sole would be on the inside, not the outside (the way they look when you go on pointe, not demi).

It is very important not to go overboard with it, because I have a friend who whacked her pointe shoes against a bench for too long and her shoes were useless for dancing!
