Next weekend there is a 10 mile road race in my town. The only thing is i'm not sure if i should run in it because I might be a little too young. I'm in really good shape though, because i play a sport everyday and I've run smaller races before and have placed. Soo please help me decide!!

  1. I agree with lestermount and fitness guru. Even to be able to have the endurance to finish a 10 mile race without walking, let alone placing, is probably out of the question if youve never even trained for milage even close to this. Plus, you dont want to injure yourself by going out to hard or underestimating the course. Start a running schedule for yourself that gradually increases the distance so you gain endurance.

  2. I am a semi-professional runner and coach.  Judging by the information you've given her I would say you arent in good enough shape to RACE a ten mile. Playing a sport everyday and being able to place in shorter races doesn't mean you are in all that good of distance shape. I would say that if you really want to run it, you should just go out and jog it. I dont think racing it is an option at this point. Assuming your a girl by your photo, to place in the race you'd have to run at least 8 minutes per mile pace. And that's a stretch. 3. yup go for it. goodluck

  4. Unless you have been training for a 10 mile race then playing sport everyday is not going to help.

If running in smaller races means 5K, then that is not even half the distance of a 10 mile race.

You might enter the race and then walk or stop when you get tired, but you should not enter with the intent of doing a ten mile race.

  5. yes, just pace it slower and prepare for it by resting the day before.  Drink a lot of water and cut soda so you will not have a heatstroke good luck.  Try www.milesplit.com and then find your state to see the results.

  6. go for it! It will be fun. how old are you anyways? Sometimes if you are too young you cant register so check first.

    Good luck!♥
