  1. What is the air specs on the q logic box?? I have that sub and it needs 1.25 cu feet of air space to run in a ported box, if it is less than that it will sound like c**p and you can damage the speaker.  In a sealed enclosure it needs .625 cu feet of air space.  If the box is too big sealed you will loose some of the punch the speaker has and likewise could damage the sub by not providing enough acoustic suspension for the driver.  Those specs are for each sub by the way.  Roughly for two sub in a sealed enclosure if it was made out of 3/4 HDPB the box would be 36x11x9 or an equivalent volume.  A ported box would be 46x12x12.125 or equivalent.  Also on the ported design I would really stay with JL recommendations on port length and size because they have it tuned for that driver.

I have heard ported in a hatch back and truck and they sound good, I don't know about a vehicle with a trunk.  I don't know if being in a sealed truck will cancel the waves I would stay sealed to be on the safe side.

  2. If you're going to buy a prefab box, get a sealed box. If you're planning on building your own, Go ported.

Most of the prefab ported boxes I've heard are not great. To do it right, a ported box needs to be built for the sub. If you want, click the email link in my profile and I can design one for you.

  3. Should sound good either way, but maybe let the type of music you listen to be the decision maker.  If you listen to rap/R & B, I would definitely say ported.  If you listen to rock/metal, I would recommend sealed.  Try it both ways and see if you don't agree.
