Basically, im not exactly great at snowvoarding, best trick is like a little bs360. Me and my dad go snowboarding like twice a year to france. Its great.

Id like to say im a fair all-rounder but i would really like to hit up some stuff in the park, especially rails. I've done a straight 5050 on a box before, but im told that in order to bordslide/tailslide/noseslide, w.e, you need to shave your edges off so as you dont catch an edge. Is it a good idea for me 2 be doing this to my board? Because iv also heard that if you encounter ice with shaved edges its a death trap :(

  1. Well what you should do is resharpen your edges and then detune them so that you wont catch your edge and eat it on a box like my cousin did last season. he got a new board and first thing he does is hit the box and eat it.

  2. Haha. Well i think somebody might have given you some bunk info. You can detune your edges... which basically means to dull them with a file.  This will help prevents catch-ups when sliding boxes and rails, but anywhere else on the mountain it will be very difficult to hold a good edge, especially on harder snow. I would highly recommend beveling your edges. This changes the angle of your base edge in relation to your snowboard base. What this does is bring the apex of the edge further away from the rail or whatever you are sliding.  The benefit of this opposed to a detune is that the edge is still there.  That way when you ride the groomers or try to make a turn, it might require slightly more effort, but your edge will hold just fine.  Hopefully that makes sense, I know its hard to understand without a visual. Another choice is to go with a board such as the Rome Artifact which has bronze edges... this softer metal is naturally a bit rounder and softer making it more forgiving on the jibs. Also there is a new late release from Burton coming out called the conDOM, the board is totally convex so when you are standing on top the edges dont touch until you shift your weight to turn. This is just another weapon used for the fight against hang-ups. Well hopefully that helps you out a bit.
