  1. i live in milan...

tell you to come... it's just an amazing city... not only for shopping (that's ultra better than in rome!), but also for its magical historical places (the cathedral, the gallery, the castle, the opera theatre, the cenacolo, the science museum (where all the projects by leonardo da vinci are), the brera art museum and many others...

milan's also the best city of italy and europe for night life! i told you i went to london, paris, germany and so on... but i've never had as much fun as i have every saturday night in my city! just have to try!

  2. milan is better for shopping...you must go in corso buenos aires, via monte napoleone, via torino.... so you've f***y very much!

  3. i live in milan...and i know this...well here you can see many shops!!! you can also go to milan's china town where there are all you want to see!!! you can also go to milan's luis -vouiton, mercedes, prada...

  4. Milan does have some interesting things to see - the Duomo is nice. If you go, make sure you go up on the roof. La Scala has a small interesting museum. Of course there's the Cenacolo (Last Supper) - you'll need a reservation to get in. The shopping is great, but there's good shopping in Rome too.

If this is a one time trip with a choice between Milan and someplace like Florence, Venice, Cinque Terre, ...  or even staying in Rome and taking day trips to Tivoli, Capri, Pompeii, or Orvietto, then I'd recommend skipping Milan. If you've already been to the other places, then Milan is worth a visit. There are some good day trips from Milan too (Lago Como, Bergamo, Pavia, Verona, or a lot of people take the train to Venice for the day).

  5. Milan is not a great tourist city, go to Florence, and Rome.

  6. Skip it it is horrible and you will get just as much designer choice in Rome - though Rome is also expensive. Turin is the cheapest big city for fashion and a much nicer city than Milan too.

  7. The most beautiful things in Milan are the cathedral that has literally hundreds and hundreds of carved figures on the OUTSIDE! There is also the original galleria, yes, indoor shopping oh so many years ago. The famous fresco of the Last Supper is also in Milan. If you go there be sure to book your tickets in advance. The lines are brutal in heave tourist season.

Other than that I did not even find the shopping so great and with the Euro costing $1.50 each there will be no bargain shopping...everything is very expensive. If you want a second location go to Venice....it is so different than anyplace else ...a magical city or Florence...you could spend an entire vacation there seeing the beautiful architecture.

If you rent a car don't use Europcar...unless you want to deal with difficulties when you get home.

  8. no! go to milan. it dusnt matter if theres "great shopping", go anyway!! your in italy!!

  9. As for designer clothes, Milan is the best place to go shopping and Rome isn't even half as good.

For the city itself, it doesn't amaze at the first sight, but if you try and look carefully, you'll spot the magnificent, cosmopolitan charm. I truly recommend going there. It's not all about aesthetics, it's feel of the city that counts too :)

And there are not so many tourists as in Rome, Florence, Venice etc
