Should i stain first, or build first?

i am building frames , and was wondering if it is better to stain the wood first, and then assemble(with wood glue).

or assemble first and then stain?

    usually it is better to assemble first, then fill the holes, then sand, then stain, then varnish.

    But sometimes it's easier to sand and stain and varnish the pieces, then fill the holes after assembly.

    You have to judge which is better.

  3. You may do either. Most people glue first. but if you do that, to make sire you get a get a uniform color, you must make sure there is no glue residue anywhere on the exterior of the part. Conversely, if you chose to stain first, make sure none of the stain gets on the surfaces that will be glued lest it damage the adhesion.
