  1. play in a resticted weight class first mate, you will be playing against guys your weight and size then go from there. You will find that resticted will be faster and your touch skills eg. speed will be perfect

In New Zealand we have under 60kgs and 75kgs  and so on,all ages so go hard bro.

  2. just ******* play!if u enjoy it

  3. You are still young, and will grow.  i was the smallest person when I played, but I found a position that suited me.  I played for 9 years in HS and College, and absolutely loved it.  If you are small and fast, try a back position (Winger, Inside or Outside cente)

  4. Don't worry about being small, you'll grow. You should try and play other positions. If you're quick, you should try playing wing or if you're good at passing and kicking, you could play five-eighth or flyhalf. You don't need to be big to play these positions and you should try since you could be good at these positions.

  5. You should do what is in your heart. Write down what it is you DON'T like, then write down the things you DO like. Look at each one and ask yourself if there is anything you can do change the things you don't like.

Right off, to me it is screaming that you are a small guy (like me), so running into forwards back rowers etc is not fun. REMEBER THIS! they can only scoop tackle you if you are in posession of the ball. Seems to me like your time away has meant you have not been coached on how to control the tackle area and take the tackle on YOUR terms not the tacklers.

You are small so you will be elusive, work on your evasion skills and make the big guys look silly by wrong footing them. DEMAND your support players support you, commit the big guys away from your supporting player, then ship the ball ajnd allow your supporter to go through the gap.

GO LOW! When you are going in for the tackle go low and drive into them, if there is no other option than going into a tackle outgunned, then get ow, and make sure he is bending, and drive in. If your support is close, you will be able to get to ground, set up a rauck, and they will move on to the next phase.

  6. I am a level 4 coach, my son is in year 7 and in exactly the same situation. Since contact came into his game, he has not enjoyed rugby. Through out life you will question weather to quit when the going gets tough or things do not quite go your way. But it is how you over come the hurdles, their are techniques to stop yourself getting dumped/scooped. If your heart is genuinely not in it or you have concerns talk to your coach and your old man, rugby is about respect and you will be respected if you speak up. Just explore other avenues before quitting, you have loads of time. You could play sevens!

  7. I agree, if you just dont enjoy the sport-quit.  Life is too short to do things you don't enjoy.

But if you enjoy playing than don't.  Just cause youre a small kid doesn't mean you can't be the best player on the team.  You just need to figure out how you being small is a benifit to you in the game.  A lot of times the smaller players can be much quicker than those who are large...they cant hit you if they cant catch you!  Plus theres always practice, practice, practice.  The more you train the better off you'll be in the long run.  Plus taking a hit wont bother you as much after awhile, the more you get hit the more you'll get used to it.  It'll still hurt just as much, but it wont bother you as much, you'll be able to shake the hit off much easier and faster the more you get hit.

Keep in mind though, in sports, we all go after the weakest player so your gonna keep on getting pounded until you out run them all the time or until you arent the weakest one anymore.  Thats just the way it goes.

  8. If your not enjoying it there is no point in sticking in, but if it is that you just dont like being small then just toughen up and start hitting back.
