im 14 and i play flanker.they changed the underage date so that would mean that i should probably be playing with the u14s again in september.

but i have the option of heading up to the u16 if i want to.

most of my friends are heading up.i think if i went up to the u16 i could become better so i would have a better chance of making it through to the munster cadets.but if i stay u14 i would more than likely be captain and would be a big part of the team but i could still make it through to the munster cadets but not as well as i could if i was u16.i am told that im very good and i have a big tackle.i dont know what to do please answer.i will choose the best answer.

  1. If you want to be looked at for your age for recruitment then stay at u14 but if you want to get better faster go up.

  2. Go Up

  3. you could stay in the 14's, get better then go up if you don't think your ready.  But if you are a big tackler go up

  4. defiantly stay down.........you will enjoy playing more because you will win more and have a bigger impact against smaller competition...

  5. its difficult...if you stay where you are youll be a big fish in a small pond and like you say become captain etc. this is a very strong position to be in. however by going up you will have to put in a considerable amount of effort to make yourself stand out from the rest. not saying you wont have to work to maintain your standards in an under 14 team. but leaping up an age group or two you have to stamp some authority and earn some respect ahead of the rest to establish yourself! its a hard challeneg and id encourage you to go for it! but what i will say is if you fall short and dont make the team for whatever reason it's even more of a challenge to recover and get yourself back on track.

    best of luck buddy

  6. With captaincy comes responsiblity you will have new players to help as well as  devloping your own game through learning to be responsile for others is a huge step in your manhood, this, it is not uncommon for players to have another season in the same grade, its a smart devlopment skill and as a former flanker  in this position you can see a lot of whats going on than someone in the backs can and that could be a big help to new ,younger players, talk to your coach...........
