  1. if it's something you really want to do well i suggest you save money your parents give you in order to buy some skates

  2. im sorry how do your parents make it hard to afford it? you take lessons?

  3. Ouch, they don't teach group classes to Gamma level skaters?? It makes me feel appreciative for once that the mexican federation at least has that.

Well, if you can't even get a part-time job because of awkward laws of your country and your parents can't afford you to skate with rentals, there really isn't much you can do. If you were a Novice skater that had won your national championship and were learning the Double Axel as we speak, I could see your federation trying to find a way to sponsor your skating (local government can sponsor skaters at least in Mexico and the US).

However, since you're only a Gamma level skater, you won't find sponsors unless people in your school did it or you had a coach that could coach you for free and such.

By the time you turn 18 and can legally work, you'll be too old to start the sport. The only choices you could have here is to either get a school scholarship to live in another country to study (but then you'd still have to pay for your skating but at least you could work if you're over 14 at least), or at least do roller skating (but with roller figure skates, not the cheap plastic inline skates). If you bought used skates you'd save a lot of money. You'd still be able to practise many figures (though I could never do a 3-turn on wheels if my life depended on it) and even if the only thing you could do was crossovers, you'd save a lot of money on ice rink fees working on exercises you master on concrete.

The last choice which is obviously one you don't want is to quit the sport since you love it. But unless your parents could earn more cash to at least take you skating on your own when they can and you teach yourself, you won't be able to do much about your situation. :(

  4. if you love it yeah! but if your parents have trouble affording it then settle for group classes instead of private lessons

  5. I f you love it I think you should continue to skate. If your parents are finding it really hard to afford it tell your coach about it I mean do you have a coach? You can't just get better for just practising. Well if you don't I suggest you should get one and if you do, tell your coach that your parents can't buy you a skate shoes. My mum told my coach that she can't afford to buy a pair of skate for me so my coach gave me a pair of skates that he's old student used to use. Rent skates are not good for skating because it's a cheap one and it doesn't have good quality so it makes it harder to skate. Or maybe your coach is not a good coach? You can always change your coach. It is better then having the same coach all the time. I've had heaps of coaches and they all teach me different things and parts so it makes me get better at skating really quickly.

I've only done skating for 1 and a half years thew layback spin. So if you want to get better at skating you shouldn't just skate, you should think about what your doing and how you think you can do it.

Well anyway good luck with it x*x

  6. I think you should continue! I hope this doesn't sound bad or anything, but if you don't follow your dreams and if you give up something love and you never go back, you will feel terrible! I know this from experience. I really wanted something but my Mom made me get something else and eventhough that was 2 years ago I STILL regret it. and it would be bad if that happened to you! TRUST ME! And group lessons are good for now

  7. you know what, I'm filipina and rite now I'm living in America. I too fell in love with ice skating! i know how hard it is in the Philippines, and if you truly love something, go for it! I'm almost into Gamma and I'm getting my ice skates this week. If you practice hard, love it, and KNOW that this is right for you, then do it! I know money is hard there, but there are a few things you could do to get money. Like doing chores for neighbors, and family. Maybe you can sell things you don't need. Good luck, keep safe over there!

  8. well i feel disappointed because you've decided to give up something u really love and care about.

    i mean,c'mon!!

how do those famous stars and players recieve all of those awards?!they went through bumps and bruises and embarassment!!but they didnt give up for their dream!!c'mon!u've got skates and i really think u shoudn't waste them.whoever bought them for u would feel like their money was just a waste!!so u cant make a 3-turn perfectly...SO WHAT!?never heard of "PRACTiCE MAKES PERFECT"?everyone has their 1st times and sometimes they also feel down cuz they cnt get a simple trick.but they practiced everyday.they sacrificed.they didnt give up!so dont give up!sure it takes time to learn but if u keep doing ur best and practice as hard as u can, then u can reach ur dream.if u ever want to become a good skater, then dont give up.whoever bought those skates for u would be proud to see u doing ur best.dont waste everything u did.u started learning,u might as well finish it!nobody's perfect, okay?and giving up is never the best decision for ur dream...u dont know.u might end up doing every trick perfectly and actually get famous and win.

one more thing...try asking professionals.check out videos about skating tutorials and how to do tricks.ask people who know how to skate.RESEARCH is one of the answers!!

oh and for ur parents sake, try finding a job.if ur parents cant afford it.why cant u?uhh..try babysitting, walking dogs.something that u know u can do.it may look kinda boring but it pays off.if u really want to continue skating.saving can help too.stop watching too much tv,using too much computer or wasting too much water.

and remember.what ever ur doing, dont give up.finish what uve started.do ur best to get wat u want.

    hope i helped.

  9. you obviously have a passion for skating so do it! (but once in a while, for Ur parents financial sake). just because you cant do that much doesn't mean you have to unless you want to.

  10. Don't worry!  I'm not a natural either....I have to work hard at everything I do in skating.  :)  Sometimes the non-natural, hard workers appreciate their accomplishments more.  Go back, give it a try.  If it's getting hard to afford it, stick to group lessons -- they're cheaper than private lessons and maybe make a few friends at the rink who can teach you a few things here and there when you're not in lessons.  Don't stop if you love it!  :)
