soccer tryouts are in 2 days and my friend says all they do at the tryouts is just run. I am overweight by 30 pounds but i lost some pounds in the summer training for soccer i didnt train a lot on endurance :(, but i do have my control down im second guessing if i should go because all they are gonna do is run im basically going to be in h**l while others are probably passing by easily. He said I had to be able to run 2 miles under 16 mins i know it sounds like an easy run but not for me 7.5 on a treadmill for 16 mins is crazy for me>?????

  1. if you're gonna play it call it what it's really called; FOOTBALL. That's what every nation on the planet apart from americans call it, that's what it is. Noone plays American football because it's c**p, face it.

  2. If all you do in the practice is run, then the coach is stupid and the team will suck. The cross country team could try out and comprise half the team. A real soccer team needs players with vision, skill, brains, and passion, not just a bunch of buff track and field athletes. Go try out for the team and if it really is just running, then just try to make it through the practice. If you don't make it because you didn't have time for the conditioning of soccer, you have time to get in shape for next year. If there is more than running, you'll be glad you went, even if you get cut.

  3. its bull....

everyone at my school said 2 miles in like 15 mins and when it actually came along it was ladders and cones....

Although you are a little bit overweight, try your hardest and don't give up.... i know the other kids may be passing and doing better than you but if you can show that you wont stop for anything, then the coach might realize what potential you have...

Being fast on the field is a major part of soccer, but not giving up and just playing for yourself and enjoying every moment of it is what it is really all about...

What do you have to lose anyways? You might as well try out seeing as how if you don't make it, the only thing that happens is you not making it...

    Make any sense?

  4. Dont give up. My grandfather was once looking at some new kids try out for melbourne knights, and the coach said to him, which one do yuo think has potential? He said that little chubby boy over there. That chubby little boy was actually mark viduka.

  5. Soccer does take endurance, but during tryouts, they don't just run you like crazy.  Soccer takes skill, and usually at tryouts, the main thing you do is drills.  You will probably just do dribbling and shooting drills, and a lot of scrimmages.

You should definitely try out because soccer is "da bomb diggity snap yo!!!!"

  6. If it's something you really want to do, you should try out. Even if you don't make the team you'll know what you need to work on to make yourself better. Besides, it's cliche but it's true: It's better to try and fail than never to try at all.

    BEST WISHES!!!!! :D
