Question:

Should i stop taking Erythromycin?

ive been taking them for about 6 month

roughly 336 tablets ive took [56 in a pot]

and it seems to help me and stops occurrence

the doctor keeps letting me have them so i thought.. it cant hurt anything

and i dont the side effects [too bad]

i just wondered if i should stop or.. if im not dying carry on :) lol

  1. Why are you taking them?

    As far as I know Erythromycin is used for certain infections or if you allergic to penicillin.

    Edit - I've just double checked, above is correct, I presume doctor is prescribing them for a reason, therefore don't stop without checking with Dr first.


  2. Typically E-mycin is used for acne on a long term care. The issue is you developing a resistance because your taking this drug long-term. Added is a photosensivity to the sun. I.e you'll get a sunburn faster on this drug. If the issue is other immunological issues, the long term dose outweighs the developing resistance. If Acne, certainly look to get off E-mycin and see what other dermatological drugs exist.

  3. Continue to take them till the doctor says stop.You don't want a resistant super infection do you??
