  1. If it says AP Bio on your transcript then I think you should submit it. Cause otherwise they could assume that you didn't take it or that you got a 1.

I personally think it would look better if you did.

  2. DO NOT SUBMIT!

That will be very detrimental, to the admissions to any top-notched school.

However, you could note that you took AP Biology in high school, but just say you didn't show up for the test because you were sick.

    Just don't submit it.

  3. Just don't send it. Colleges do NOT require an AP test because all the AP tests are for are to gain college credit, so if you didn't get a 4 or a 5, there is NO point in sending it in. All colleges care about is the grade you got in the class. If you didn't even take the test, they don't care because then they don't lose money by giving you the credits you would have gotten if you had a 4 or 5. REally, just don't send it, THEY DON'T CARE.

  4. I like to think of the AP exam as the moment of truth: how one does on it is a good (though imperfect) reflection of how well he/she knows his/her course material.

If you have put in much effort into an AP biology class, chances are you won't do quite so badly on the exam. Whatever the reason you have for getting a '1', it is simply a waste to let matters rest.

Colleges might or might not care about your '1' depending on the level of the college. But if your AP biology course grade's an A or B and your exam score is 1, I would believe the admissions officer would raise an eyebrow on it. After all, the test is fair in the sense that everyone sits for the same one or two versions of the exam, but high school courses exhibit much variation - no two As are worth the same if they're from different schools. So the test is the BEST measure (though admittedly imperfect) they have for gauging your mastery. Why punish yourself by submitting the score and encouraging them to ask questions that might produce answers that you don't want to be associated with yourself?

The best thing you can do is to cancel the score, and resit the exam. What's the point of doing a course and not sitting for the exam for a chance at credit?

An exam tip: the best way to prepare for an exam is to make sure you have access to EVERYTHING YOU COULD POSSIBLY EVER NEED TO KNOW FOR THE EXAM. This means, at the AP level, a single authoritative textbook that covers everything you need to know. I would recommend you to read 'Biology: Eighth Edition' by Campbell and Reece from cover to cover, and pay extra attention to the chapter summaries. The 7th ed of the book got me a 5 on the 2007 Biology exam - and I didn't do any biology course; I just sat for the exam for fun after self-studying the book for two weeks. Why should an average AP teacher know better than professors who spend their lives writing and rewriting textbooks?

In short: rely on good textbooks, not teachers. It also ties in nicely with the idea of self-reliance and independence in learning. Resit the exam, and give yourself something to be proud of, and for the colleges to have good reasons to accept you.

    Good luck.

  5. Two things:

    1. don't send it--especially if that is the only ap test you've taken in high school

    2. its just a test, dont worry about it. i took an ap class and didnt send in the score for it and i turned out just fine ( i think). just prep better for the next one and ace that ****.

  6. Well that depends. Were you planning in majoring or minoring in biology? If you were, you should submit it. At least you have a score... and you tried hard on the test, right? If you submit it, maybe the college can point you in a better direction.

If you just took the test to see how you would do on it, you should probably hide it.
