  1. No. Two protections are better than one.

Yahoo Online do not protect you from virus that come in CD/DVD or USB thumb drives.

  2. Avast is a great antivirus (and it's free). I had NOD32 (decent anti-virus), but after removing NOD32, avast found viruses (NOD missed them). As for firewall - Agnitum Outpost is a good one.

  3. I wouldn't.  Zonealarm is great, I don't care much for avast, I like AVG allot better and its free.

  5. No.

    1) Avast is a perfectly fine anti-virus solution, and assuming you have the free version, it's not costing you anything. Yahoo Online Protection is kind of an unknown in the anti-virus world. It's pr

    2) There is no firewall in YOP. They suggest, among others, ZoneAlarm. You already have it, so don't get rid of it.

    3) Your YOP will only last as long as you are a Yahoo customer, so if you were to quit you'd have the hassle of switching back to something else. I'd stick with Avast.

    4) YOP comes with Anti-Spyware solutions. If that is part of what's attracting you, I'd suggest looking at SpyBot or AdAware (Linked in Sources). They are both free for home use, and I've found them to be excellent.
