Should i take a sign language class?

ok my friend is deaf i would really like to learn i do know some stuff but its hard to communicate i want to learn but the class is $100, what other choices do i have or is that it??

The book THE JOY OF SIGNING is a really good book to learn some basic signs from.

Does your friend read lips?

How does s/he communicate with you?  S/he able to talk?

Well, you've got the ultimate "class" in your friend.  Why don't you ask the friend to teach you.  The best way to learn any language is from a native useer of that language.  Your friend probably knows other deaf people and you can learn a lot from hanging out with them.
