  1. Yes and Yes.  Try boxing if it is available and you enjoy it.  Or you could join your high school wrestling team for free. Look for a place that trains live movements against real opponents, not McDojos that have you punch and kick the air 1,000 times. Check out this Youtube Video for more what I mean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL05Es8LV...

  2. Sure.

Wether or not you succeed is up to you, boxing or any martial art.

Work hard and you will succeed.

    Good luck!

  3. How can anybody know which martial arts fit you best?

Just take up boxing and if you find any interesting martial arts, go for that as well, or switch to it, or keep doing both.

Don't be lazy and you gotta stop having fun watching tv and doing video games or hanging out with your friends like all those average teenagers. That's how you become the best. Mike Tyson wakes up at around 3 or 4 am and starts running, goes to the gym afterwards, etc. He basically sacrificed a lot of his time in order to become the best.

  4. You can succeed in any martial art that you practice, if you practice hard and consistently. You're young, you can do anything you want.

  5. If that is what you really want to do then that is what you should do, you are only 15 you have lots of time to try it out and see what you think about it. It may become the passion of your life or it could just be your first step on a lifelong journey in martial arts. You never can tell.

My oldest brother got me started in martial arts when I was six, he only did it for a short while and then he went on to other interests. He had no way of knowing that what he started back then would still be with me 32 years later and that I would go on to fight competitively for a little over 20 years. You never know where your next batch of inspiration is going to come from so live your life and always keep an opened mind.

  6. Well it depends on what your purposes are?

If you are looking at getting into MMA.. knowledge in any field is very helpful.. But there is a yin to every yang.. Boxers are good hitters, but what if someone gets close to you? Much harder to control the fight there. At your age you are definitely young enough to take up something like boxing and still have time to learn other forms of combat/defense.

Another thing you might notice, would be the difference in fighting in the lighter weight classes versus the heavier weight classes. A lot of the 205 fighters are gloried for their knock out power. This is due to their more leniety to stand up and fight rather than get close and physical. They still roll around in fights but less frequent.

So a lot of it would just depend on exactly what you are looking to do.. If you are looking to knock someone out, definitely, boxing, muay thai.. if you are looking to handle closer ranged combat, wrestling, jui jitsu (sp)

  7. The best martial arts to train in are ones fought bare knuckle, because any martial art using gloves is more a sport than a martial art, look at krav maga, kyokushin karate, muay thai all bare knuckle, all reveared martial arts, with the highest succes rate in a real fight (From what i have seen) because styles that use glove dont teach you to hit with a bare hand, only a padded one.

  8. yes

  9. you can do whatever you want.

and ignore that guy who was talking about "bare knuckle" stuff...he doesnt know what he's talking about. muay thai is not bare knuckle...even in thailand. and what do gloves have to do with the skills taught anyway? lol
