  1. Yeah, take it up only if you like the sport. Don't take it up if you think you'll get fit without having to work hard. All boxers must supplement their boxing training with traditional excersises like running, jogging, and other cardio (and sometimes strength) excersizes.

  2. I am a former football player. I suffered from aching knees, a bad back, high blood pressure and glucose  levels . My doctor's suggested that I become active again , so I took up boxing at a local gym. I luv it. I lost about 50 pounds in about 3 weeks and my blood pressure and glucose levels are now normal. Find a physcial activity that you would like doing and do it. It sounds like you like boxing, so I suggest doing it. Just find a gym  that is professional and a trainer that you are comfortable with.

  3. Boxing is tough, REALLY TOUGH. You should really think this over, because it is probaly the toughest sport out there, and you do get hurt, believe me (I was messing around with a friend at a gym when a guy asked me to spar, well I'm a second degree blackbelt in Tae-kwon-do, so i said sure. Well, it got real serious real quick, lasted eight rounds before the gym operator stopped it after I knocked him down then he nearly knocked me out as i was walking  to my corner.). But if you stay with it, you will get fit, and tough.

  4. Don't let us decide for you, you already answered your own question. It WILL get you FIT and you will like it because it's FIGHTING. Go out there and look for a gym now, make something out of it, gogogo!!!

  5. go for it it will get you fit and strong

  6. Boxing is a great workout! The discipline of the sport is tough. I boxed in the amateur ranks and have never been in better shape since. You build self confidence knowing you can protect yourself but, the workout is the best.

Start slow. Buy yourself a small bag to start. Maybe 40Lbs. Get some wraps for your wrists and hands so you don't hurt or bend your wrists. I can tell you that stuff is painful!

Once you have the co-ordination try a double end bag.
