  1. At the moment the Netherlands has very low unemployment so it could be worth traveling there then finding a job. I'm assuming, as you live in Ireland, that you are an EU citizen and therefore you won't need a work permit. However there is some stuff you need to do before finding a job. Firstly you'll need to register with the local authority. This costs around EUR40.00 for your EU residency card. They will put a sticker in your passport as proof until your card arrives as it can take a couple of months. Next you'll have to register with the tax office (Belastingdienst) and get a SOFI number. Without a SOFI number your employer won't be able to pay you.

There are many temp agencies, specializing in ex-pats,in the Netherlands. Try looking at www.undutchables.nl

    Good Luck!!

  2. That depends, do you speak Dutch? In Maastricht you need either Dutch (the local language) or German (as the border is just a few miles away).

Also, Dutch employers are pretty strict about qualifications, so you'd better make sure you have something that's transferable.

To look for a job, google 'uitzendburo', this is the Dutch word for employment agency. While most Dutch speak English reasonably well, not everyone does.

Otherwise, you might just need a change from where you are located currently. Sick of Ireland? If you're in Dublin, well, that's understandable. Try looking in some other part of Ireland.

  3. Funny, I live in Maastricht. I just don;t work there. I dunno... maybe ask a magic 8 ball for help on this one.

  4. Join the gravy train by learning punctuation and proper sentences.
