  1. Go for it!  What's the worst that can happen - you don't make the team?

It sounds like you have a good background.  The coach is going to look for someone who will help the team in some way - even if it's just improving the quality of practices.

For the tryouts - show your knowledge of the game.  If you are trying out for DS - concentrate on that:

    - go after every ball.

    - communicate - call the ball.

    - be friendly.

    - take any advice that the coach gives and implement it.

    - keep up the intensity

    Good Luck

  2. Just go for it. Remember to consult Anthony S. more frequently and you will be fine :)

  3. not sure what U stands for, but if it stands for university, your height is just average. there are going to be taller women at the university level. unless your jumping abilities are super, you might end up being the setter.

  4. Playing at the D1 level is tough, no matter your size or experience level. It sounds like you are aware of the fact that your height will put you at the libero or ds position, depending on Akron's defensive system.

Akron went 10 - 20 last season, and they have news that there will be a new head coach on the school's volleyball web page. It looks like the person that played libero last season was just a sophomore, but they don't have any other liberos or DS listed on their roster.

In the sources below, I have put the web link to the prospective student / athlete questionnaire. that would be the first place to go to get things started.
