  1. I was scared to join too, but I did.

-One thing is that it is boring to TONS of people is the repetitiveness. What makes those laps interesting is if you actually set goals and attempt to achieve them.

-Try not to freak out at your first meet (like me :O) It will be OK. You get used to it and will be able to focus the stomach aches into positive energy for swimming faster.

-If you have any questions you might want to meet the coach (if possible) before school starts. You'll be a bit less anxious and it's one less thing to worry about. Maybe you can get a tour of the aquatic center!

TIP: Always keep extra hair ties, tampons and SWIM CAPS! If your swim cap breaks you're sort of screwed :(

MAJOR CON: Consider how this will affect your studies. Are you a morning person? I had to quit because I got hardely any sleep and was trying to take all honors and AP courses. Some people are able to handle the early hours, others just can't do it.

-Don't worry about what your friends think! You need to be yourself or you won't be happy. Friends have different interests and move apart-fact of life! My friends all joined the tennis team and moved apart, but I met my best friend on the swim team! You will have tons of fun and meet so many new people on the team!

Good Luck! Swimming is AWESOME! Ya!

  2. pros:

    - healthy for your body

    - fun activity

    - strong, toned arms and legs

    - you can teach younger kids to swim

    - you can become a lifeguard

    - maybe even make it to the olympics

    cons:

    - might interfere with your schedule

    - tiring

i can't think of anymore cons.. i think you should go for it...who care what your friends say.. im sure that they will support you

  3. the pros u will have fun and u might get a scholarship into college and who cares what ur friends say cons nothing

  4. Listen, this is going to sound really cliche, but if you're really friends with someone they won't bring you down. Anyways...

    PROS:

    - You'll get a totally toned body.

    - You'll get to be in a bathing suit the whole time.

    - Other PEOPLE will be in bathing suits. ; )

    - It's a lot of fun.

    - Your swim team will be like your family.

    CONS:

    - It's a lot of hardwork.

    - You should shave down for meets, although you don't have to.

    - If your a girl you're gonna have to wear a cap.

  5. Who cares what your friends think. If you only care about what your friends think then why not just give them the remote to your life. What I would suggest is that you GO for it if that is what you want to do. Follow what YOU want to do, not what OTHERS want you to do.

    Pros:

    Extremely fun.

    Great exercise.

    Keeps you in shape.

    Meet new friends.

    Get to know yourself better.

    Know what your capable of.

    Build up your endurance.

Keep up your skills so that you don't get rusty.

Knowing that you have a goal to chase after.

Learn how to use your limited time wisely.

You will always have a good nights rest after a practice.

Might even get into the Jr. Olympics or Olympics.

    Cons:

Don't have as much time as you had before.

Have to do any homework in a jiffy.

Maybe the schedule is not right for you.

    Very tiring.

I don't have any other cons but if you join trust me it is for the better.

  6. Why does it matter what your friends say? I am thinking of doing tennis this year and I have never played, but I couldn't care less what my friends have to say. So, pros: you think you will enjoy it, you will make new friends, you will stay in shape

    cons? can't think of any.
