Should i try out for track this year?

Should i try out for track this year? im not sure because my health i have asthma real bad. But the thing is i am really fast. im the fastest one in my class. i dont no if i should or not. cause are school is really small.give me a reason if i should or if i shouldnt. I NEED HELP. thnx

Dooo it.

The fastest distance runner and the fastest sprinter on my team both have asthma.  

The sprinter broke school record at my school in the 100m this year and remains undefeated in that race.

The distance runner runs 4:40 miles as a sophomore.  The distance runner went from basically unnoticed in freshman year to the top.

The thing is, they just don't give up.

They just carry their inhalers around just in case.  Also you need a physical for track so the coaches and athletic trainers know that you have asthma.  They'll probably give you some direction.  If not, ask them!

omg i am seriously going through the same thing. i think u should go 4 it but make sure u have ur inhaler near by. ashma should never stop u from doing but u were ment 2 do ;) go 4 it but b safe

Do it!

Bring an inhaler everywhere and only do short sprints because they will be over before you know it, whereas doing 400+ you are on the track running for quite a while, and are most likely to have an asthma attack because it is a longer distance.  You will than have to leave the race and be DQ'ed.

Definitely.  Some of the fastest distance runners ever have asthma, such as Haile Gebrselassie and Jim Ryun.  There is also a kid in my state who is running the 2 mile in the low 9's and has asthma.

dont let your asthma stop you. keep your inhaler close when your running and you will be fine!

You shouldnt let a thing like asthma stop you from running. If you are fast, dont let anything get in your way. Just make sure to keep your inhaler nearby.
