ok are soccer team is not good there record was 1 win in 13 but the people on team look pretty fit. I am overweight about 30 pounds over but i lost about 15 pounds this summer because I really want to make the team. I bought shinguards and cleets already but im still not sure if im ready because i get so tired after 1 mile of consistent jogging. Its about to be junior year and I dont care if we dont even win one game i just want to be a part of it because i love playing soccer. Also I have been practicing soccer dribbling, controlling ball etc. over the summer I have 2 weeks left before tryouts what can i do to get 2 miles under 16 mins without dying, and should i even tryout because i know the players of the team they are all pretty skinny and i dont want to be the only overweight one, but I still like to play :(.

  1. Of course you should still tryout!  If you have a passion for the sport, and have a desire to work hard you can be just as good as any other kid on the team.  Plus it already sounds like you've been doing that second part of working hard by getting more in shape, practicing on your own, etc.  That is a great start, and it sounds like you really love the sport and are motivated to play.  So don't worry if you are the only one overweight... besides your only 15 pounds over which I can make a mental picture of you and tell you that you are not fat and shouldn't be embarrassed of your weight.

So my advice is keep on practicing your soccer skills, do some running (to train for the 2 miles in under 16 minutes), and maybe try to find out if there are any captains practices for your soccer team and go to them.  The best thing you can do is to be familiar with the players and it is always a huge benefit to practice with the team that will be trying out for the hs soccer team.  If there are no captains practices/you can't find out when they are, just get some friends (preferably ones that play soccer and/or on the highschool soccer) and play with them.  Other that keep eating healthy, keep practicing, keep doing exercises to get fit (running, weights, etc.) and whether or not you make the team just know you gave it your all and you tried your hardest.

    Good luck!

  2. YES soccer is the best try running everyday for a mile or so

  3. DO it! If you never try then you will never know, try to run everyday for an hour in a stop go pattern. Like run for three minuets, and rest for one. Eventually will be able to run for an hour non stop. You can get done for within two weeks! good luck!
