Should i use a spotting scope or telescope to spot something in detail about 1/2 to 1 mile away on land?

  1. Well, if you use an astronomical telescope, you will see the object as upside down or mirror-imaged - or both - depending on the type of scope you have. A spotting scope is designed for terrestrial viewing, and I'm a great believer in using things that are designed to do what you want to do.
