Should i use different balls for playing on Grass and Hardcourt.?

I was wondering because of the different surfaces and the variations in bounce etc whether the same tennis ball should be used for both surfaces or whether separate balls should be used.

And if there are differences in the brand of balls which should be used what brands are these?

  1. I use different balls on different types of court surfaces.  It is indicated on the can, usually near the bottom. I use Slazenger and Dunlop......

  2. it won't make a huge difference but if your not playing socially than you might want to considerate it. most tennis ball companies do make different types of ball for different types for different surfaces.

you can't go wrong with slazenger.  just make sure you don't buy the $2 ball because they don't bounce at all.

  3. yeah.

it should say on the can if it is for soft and/or hard surfaces. and it should say clay, grass, etc.

if you stop into d i c k s sporting goods  or a tennis store they should be able to tell you and/or show you different types, which are the best, etc.

  4. most balls nowadays are suitable for both grass and hard court surfaces, just check on the tin that they are for both.

i would recommend Slazenger's Wimbledon series, mainly because they are used at Wimbledon and they stay hard for along time.
