  1. I think a straight flat tax on everyone would be awesome!!  That way taxes are not raised, but stay the same.

  2. Taxes are NOT raised "for equality" between the "haves and have nots."

People making $300,000 a year SHOULD pay more taxes than someone making $30,000 a year.

It is simply FALSE to imply that your money is "being given" to someone else. That is blatant fear-mongering.

Why are some people so gullible?

  3. Fund government sponsored equality? We should simply fund our past expenditures. At this moment we have about 10 trillion in debt. Even if we completely eliminated ALL expenses (including the IRS, congress, defense, etc), and used our current tax revenues to pay down the debt, it would take about 4 years to pay the debt off. Americans have, at the urging of mostly republicans, run up huge debt. We haven't been paying our own way for years. It is frightening.

Some of my Republican friends ask me why I don't like the Bush Tax Cuts. This is like asking someone in January 1929 why they don't appreciate their stock market profits. If we don't get this problem under control EVERYONE loses.

  4. No. Taxes should be used to run and operate our government. We need certain things such as a military, public roads, clean water and air, post office, education, police and fire protection, and many others.

There are already a lot of social programs tax money pays for. None of the programs are meant to make a poor person rich.

I feel that people really need to lean to do a few things for themselves instead of becoming slaves to the government. If you create a dependency where people rely on assistance it can stop people from moving up.

People on section 8 or welfare can not have a savings account, can not earn over a certain amount of money. The only income can be what the government gives them. Then they have a harder time finding a decent job to pay for the apartment (often they can not own property.)

I would rather work and decide for my self what to do with my money. (after I've paid my taxes of course)

There will always be poor among us. It is a sad but harsh reality. I don't think taking money from the rich and giving it to them will actually help. I am for charity and giving tithes and helping the poor. But I don't believe taking it from "rich" people is the right thing to do. It just don't work that way. That is to idealistic.
