  1. by yourself first time that is not bad. It depends on the car as some takes twice as longer as other easy ones. Also some cars require that both be remove just to replace either one so you have to do twice the job but that is only on a few cars. It can be a pain to pull out the shafts. It can be more of pain to put in the new shaft as it must be lined up  or you can have problems putting it back in. It depends on the car make and model. If you get someone to help you and if you have a garage with air tools and lift it can take less than an hour per side.

  2. they can be stubborn at times

  3. if it is your first time , sure, you run into situations that you have not had to deal with yet. popping a ball joint loose can take a little bit. i would thank your neighbor. the tricks are great to remember. heck, if he saved you that much time, i would take him out to lunch.

  4. I know of one friend it took him a whole day just to get the shaft out . The next part of a day to finish. All because he would not listen and carefully read the step it takes to do so.

But to answer. It all depends on how prepared you are or not. if its your first time that reasonable . All that matters is that its done correctly.

You should have the alignment check.

  5. it might, if you don,t know what your doing. i found out the hardess part was taking the axle nut off.
