Question:

Should kitchen cabinet k***s and lighting match appliances?

I am sprucing up my kitchen. The cabinets are an oak color. The walls are a khaki/tan color (Sherwin Williams Latte) http://www.myperfectcolor.com/PhotoDetails.asp?ShowDESC=N&ProductCode=MPC0029979. I'm adding new ceramic floors (probably like Roman gold or American Olean Hazelnut - still debating that). My fridge is stainless steel. I'll be adding a stainless steel stove and eventually as money permits a matching microhood and dishwasher.

I need new lighting and am going with track lighting to spread the light around. In the eat in, I'm changing the pendant to another (it's awful gold and frosted dome now). I'm also adding k***s to the cabinets.

Question: I like the dark bronze lights. Should the lights match the appliances in a nickel or something? Should the k***s also match the appliances? I'm thinking the dark color lends to the floor, cabinet and wall color, but I'm not sure if they will have to match the appliances?

FYI: the kitchen accessories are red.

  1. You don't have to match appliances, lights and faucets, but it creates a pulled-together look if you do.  An alternative that could work in your space:  Look for at least one two-toned element in the bronze and silver.  Kraftmaid has an option you might like: k***s and pulls that are brushed nickel with copper accents.  That copper works nicely with bronze elements, and the nickel ties in with your appliances.  You should be able to order them at your local Lowe's or Home Depot kitchen department.  Good luck with your project!
