Should larger clothes cost more?

Question

Everything else is based on usage or amount...our food, cell phones, gas, electricity, water, even my trash is less if I use the smaller trash cans...

Why are clothes the exception?

If I use 1/4 the material, shouldn't I get a discount?

That's logical, but life isn't always logical.  You are paying for style or designer name, not material.

I think the more material used, the more it should cost as far as with adults clothing.  Maybe this will motivate bigger people to lose weight lol    

As far as childrens, I think all sizes should be equal prices.  With children growing out of clothing so fast, its expensive enough buying all new clothes each year without having to worry about price increases as well.

Yes, you have to use more material and it takes longer to stitch them together.But they should not a whole lot morer.

I totally agree! It would only make sense, and maybe it would give people an incentive to lose some weight. Another thing - why do thongs cost as much as regular underwear? It's half the material! XD

One would think.  I believe it was that way a lot of years ago.  The larger the size, the more costly the garment.

Why are they exceptions? Simple to many fat people will complain about discrimination. But on a serious note they should cost more and even be taxed! I am sick of paying taxes for fat people's medical problems! They should pay taxes on there big clothes just like how we make smokers pay taxes to ruin our air! Unhealthy eating is a serious issue. It's sad. Most of it is from advertising McDonalds, and other fast food places to Kids. Toys, big play places, Bright colors, ect. That is where it begins and if parents dont stop it how are they going to know better when they go out on there own. Also a double cheeseburger should be $5 and a chicken salad should be $2 served only with light/non fat salad dressing.

Sorry.... It is just BS the government doesnt set any laws to help provent people from getting fat.

Often it is the labour costs that determine the price of a garment and not the material -except for high end silks, linens etc. Since most garments are produced in factories where the person sewing must put out a set number of items per hour/day/week the costing is averaged over the time that they actually work and the volume they produce. The differences in cost are then averaged as well. The true cost is probably for the clothes in the middle range of the labour expended - medium to large size rather than the sizes at either end ( XS or XXL). Many times though it is more difficult to work on smaller sizes as the machines used to sew are designed for straight line stitching and smaller sizes require more curved and angled stitching so the time to adjust may outweigh the actual reduction in material used. Bigger sizes often have more straight lines.

Where do you shop?I always see a 2.00 hike in larger clothes.Hey you would really get peed off if you shopped in the infants section,tiny for way too much.Just start shopping in Thrift stores and really get into recycling...I do.Hey what about shoes?Think about that..Can people shrink their foot size????NO.
