Should local police negotiate with gangbangers?

Question

Should we sit down and diplomatically come to a resolution for allowing only some of their illegal activities to continue? Or as soon as we start negotiations have we agreed, by default, that they have beat us?

While we are at it, lets negotiate with Hamas and Iran. They seem like reasonable folks.

sometimes we give drug mules 'get out of jail free cards'. in exchange we get the suppliers who lead us to more dealers. i'd say this is more effective than 1 drug mule, wouldn't you?

They do, often someone will get a lesser sentence for giving information that leads to the arrest of someone higher in the food chain.

LOL, and while we are at it, we should acknowlege that they wouldn't be doing what they are doing, if George Bush wasn't in office <sar>.

It's nice to understand why people do evil things and have a desire to end their dysphunction. But, it feels so much better to put them out of their misery when they do!

Negotiations between law enforcement and gangbangers should consist of criminals getting teeth broken in. None of them should be smiling pretty on their way to jail.

Your analogy lacks common sense.  Not all Americans are gang-bangers and not all Iranians are Hamas!  What could possibly be wrong with diplomacy?   Would you rather follow this administration and drop bombs and figure out a plan later?  Isn't discussion and negotiation a more civilized way to deal with enemies?

Yeah, because obviously Hamas and Iran are gangbangers, there's no rational people there whatsoever.  Oh, and of course they are a part of our country, like these people you're talking about, so we have total control over what we do with them.  Go get a clue.
