  1. NO, the forest were set aside for the people to enjoy, not to let the government give trash it like it does everything else.

  2. No, it is NATIONAL forest land. It is not for tax payers to pay for the human resources that go into maintaining the property, and then a have private contractor log it off for a profit. It takes a permit just to cut a dead tree for firewood. But take some money and put it in the right congressman's pocket and you can log the whole hillside?

  3. i think that they have enough already planted out and should leave the older forrests alone for a while and farm what they have.what do we need all the wood for?more houses?cant sell the ones that are out there now.everything is saved on computors.only thing i really need thats a paper product is zhit paper

  4. I live in the most beautiful place on earth on the avenue of the Giants in Northern California. Most of the large tracks of forests are in the National Forest system and we are watching them die due to the lack of reforestation and logging practices. As you look over the skyline in the national park you see nothing but dead snags as we call them or treetops. The forest is so dense that sunlight is unable to penetrate to allow new growth. Natural practices such as lightening strikes that starts fires which would naturally clear the undergrowth are not allowed to burn and are quickly squelched by man. WE NEED TO LOG THE NATIONAL PARKS SYSTEM to keep it healthy. All Logging companies have biologists and foresters that must submit logging plans to the state and be approved before logging begins. It is a careful study of the health of the forest and the wildlife. WAKE UP AMERICA OUR NATIONAL FORESTS ARE DYING DUE TO TRYING TO CONTROL THE GROWTH CYCLE. I live here I know what I see.........We must log and reforest to have a healthy future.

  5. Clear cutting of national forests by logging companies has proven to be disastrous.  This happened in the National Forests in east Texas, and what the logging companies did to replace the trees they clear cut was plant all soft wood pine trees. The pine beatles flourished, going from tree to tree because there were not hardwood trees between as a buffer, as is found in nature.  Huge swaths of pine trees were wiped out which had an adverse affect on the bird population, especially the woodpeckers.    Walking through some of the areas that weren't hit by the pine beatle was not like walking through a forest at all - just like a Christmas tree farm.  Well, I could go on and on, but at the very least, logging should only be allowed on a selective basis - never clear-cutting.  However, my own opinion is that logging should not occur in national forests at all.  I think they should be kept in their most natural state, especially as green spaces seem to be disappearing so quickly to urban sprawl and development.  People need pristine forests to escape and rejuvenate.  Wildlife needs the tranquility and protection to survive.

  6. I did a whole project about logging and i believe it should not be done the same for mining and oiling it causes carbon dioxide into the world damaging it even more and although some may argue that then the people will not get any money then either 1, for every tree that is cut down plant a new one or 2, try out eco-tourism that'll help.

  7. Are you crazy! NO WAY IT SHOULDNT!

That would be so cruel to animals that live there!

  8. Yes thin of an older forest prevents wild fires from growing out of control. The fires in Yellowstone are an example of this. If you thin an old forest and remove the dead fall, you remove the fuel that a fire has on the ground floor. As long as it is reseeded. With the larger trees removed and new ones growing, the grasses and ground vegetation will grow providing a better habit for the animals of the region.

  9. Yes - as long as it is sustainable.

Sustainable mean that nature can  replace the amount taken out.

Deforestation like that in Bolivia where 40 000 ha is lost every year should however not be allowed.

    As for reasons:

    Trees act as CO2 filters,

    Release O2.

Absorb a lot of energy from the sun.

  10. i think it should jsut because we need trees, its jsut a fact of life, doesnt mean we shouldnt manage it properly and be very careful about how we go about it...............im a big tree hugger type, but half the problem is when ya cant come up with a real answer to the issue.............conservatives love baiting environmentalists into this fight because they always talk themselves into a corner..............

  11. Absolutely yes, logging should be allowed, for the health of the forest itself ! Not to mention, creating jobs and helping the U.S economy.  It is a matter of thought and common sense that needs to come in to play with conservative husbandry of our natural and RENEWABLE resources !

  12. No not in a National Forrest , unless the trees need to be thin out for  them to grow  healthy

  13. Logging should most deffinelately NOT be allowed any where in the world!!!!

It causes damatic effects to the environment such as:

    Erosion

Loss of habbitat to native animals

Prevents carbon being taken from the atmosphere.

For these reasons we should be allowing logging to be band around the world!!!!
