Should mobile phones be allowed on the golf course?
It is shocking sometimes where people use their cell phones without thinking that people around them may be affected negatively. One should be considerate enough to think about others before using his/her cell phone. People often get offended by this sort
of behavior.
One thing that people do not realise is that mobiles should not be used on golf courses, as they may disturb the game of other players. They can ruin someone’s swing or an eagle putt.
Generally, people are of the view that mobile phones should be allowed on the course. They should only be turned off or prohibited during professional games.
As they can only have an adverse impact during professional matches, mobile phones should be allowed elsewhere. This is not true. Amateur players can also get distracted by a call or a message tone.
Many people have busy schedules and do not get a great deal of time to play golf and when they do, they sure would appreciate that their game is not disturbed by someone else’s business call or family dispute.
For them this is a sacred time and they have zero tolerance for such behavior.
If someone is expecting a very important business call or any sort of important call, then they should enter the course once they have attended their call.
In this way, they can play golf without any distractions. In this way the people around them would not be disturbed either.
Many people are of the idea that keeping the mobiles with them and attending a few calls during the game does not affect anyone’s game and they should be allowed.
These people do not understand that it is that one call which may affect the outcome of the game.
Many people are on the course not just to play the game, but to relax and get away from their every day tensions. For this, they need a perfect surrounding.
Others need this perfect surrounding to concentrate on their game. All this can be ruined by a single call or even a text message.
For this reason, the use of mobile phones should be strictly prohibited on the golf course. Phones, if with a person, should be in the golf bag and should be turned off.
If the use of mobile phones is necessary, then it should be done in the parking and even then, the person should make sure no one is disturbed by the call.
Mobiles in silent mode should also be not answered or operated on the premises of the golf course. The golf course membership of the person using the cell phone should be cancelled, or at least, that person should be fined heavily.
Another solution for this problem can be the use of mobile jammers on the course, so that there are no signals. Thus, no calls can be attended and no messages can be received or sent.
Golfers should keep this thing in mind, and they should try to create such an environment that is favorable not only for them, but also for their fellow golfers.
