people say drugs should be legalised because prohibition doesn't work and folk still take drugs

murder is illegal yet people get killed everyday clearly the current laws are not working - legalise murder.

if the arguement works for drugs does it apply to homocide?

  1. Opium production has rocketed since America went in to Afghanistan. Go figure!

  2. no.

  3. Ive said that after you get to about 35, you should get one free get out of jail card for murder.

  4. Not a chance!! people do break the law YES, but not everyone breaks the law! its only a select few and eventually most of them get punished!

I think if we adopted a zero tolerance policy than half of the crimes that were committed in the UK wouldn't happen!!

of course i know that wont ever happen but there's no harm in wishful thinking!

There's a lot of people that don't have respect for the law these days and that's a shame!

  5. Excellent point.  They say the same for speeding.  Just because people don't obey the law is no excuse for abandoning the law.  That's why we've got policemen.

  6. Your argument is so logically flawed as to be little better than gibberish. Murder involves a perpetrator taking the life of a an innocent (usually) victim. Drug use involves people ingesting or otherwise consuming sanctioned substances, where is the similarity? There is none, you're comparing apples to oranges.

Plus people don't say prohibition doesn't work, they say prohibition makes the problem far worse. So at least three false arguments: A faulty premise, an apples to oranges comparison, followed by a "does not follow" argument.

It is possible to construct logical drug prohibition arguments, you have failed to do so in this case.

  7. Many murders are caused by drug users so making drugs illegal helps to keep murders down .Can that be a bad thing ?

  8. Yes!

EDIT: Ok, only if your killing Jeremy Kyle then.

  9. Well, I'll be damned. I think you got sumthin goin there lil' fella.

And we should be able to attack other states and cities too.

  10. No.  You're talking about one thing that people willingly do and another thing that is done against their will.  So you're basically saying that everything should be legal.  There are laws against theft, kidnapping, child molestation, etc. but people still do these things.  So, by your argument, everything should be legalized.

  11. A very good question.  I have always felt that it is wrong to make something legal just because we cannot stop it happening.

    Examples:

Drugs - make them legal and the problem will go away...

Teenage s*x - bring the age of consent down to 12 and the problem will be solved...

So I agree with you.... if we have the same approach to murder then it should be made legal too. (maybe 'Class C'  killing should be masde legal.... ie manslaughter, LOL )

  12. **Drugs are more self inflicted.  People choose whether or not they want to take drugs and suffer the consquences of their actions.  People don't choose whether they want to be murdered or not.  Could you imagine how many people would be killed if it was legal.  It would be a moral problem not a legal one.**

  13. That has got to be one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. Ever considered a career in politics?

  14. No, no and no again. There should be a zero tolerance to all crime in our country, especially the least problematic crime. Start there and continue upwards. This is what Gulianni did in New York  around 15 years ago and the streets are relatively crime free now compared to what they had been. Start with the rubbish, sweep it off the streets and then you also clear the cover for the crime Lords - good! Jail anyone in posession of drugs for a minimum of 5 years without visitation rights or parole rights. Jail all policemen or prison warders for 20 years for abetting a criminal to obtain drugs in prison. Jail all drug barons for life without visitation or remission. All jail sentences should include hard labour. No television, selected films and documentaries at the wardens discretion. How long do you think it would take to turn this tiny island around? We are an island - if we have the will then we also should have the way - velle est valere - where there's a will there's a way - my old school motto - stood so many of us well over the years!

  15. Of course! And the first to be killed is the people who ask idiotic questions!!!

  16. o yea lets legalise murder and hey we may as well do rape at the same time, IT SHOULD ALL BE ILLEGAL and drugs can never be classed the same way as murder, they are totally different

  17. If the victims are pedophiles, then yes.

  18. Are we perhaps a little bored??

  19. The obvious answer is no, but with this government anything is possible. I can see a time when its OK to kill someone so long as they are NOT Muslim, Black or g*y LOL.... at least that would free up space in prison.

  20. You cannot class the legalization of some drugs the same as murder. So no the argument does not work for homocide.

  21. Are you in school yet, because i can't imagine an  adult would ask such a question

  22. Of course not how can you class drugs and murder in the same league?

  23. First.....Lets set up some common ground on which we can agree

Using drugs is "self" destructive.....while it can impact others it is primarily an attack on self

Murder is an attack on others.....it robs someone of their life.

The war on drugs has been a failure...

We want to reduce drug use.....

Billions of dollars leave America annually and help create huge drug lord empires

Illegal drugs are not controlled by the FDA and often are literally poison

Illegal drugs are high priced because they are illegal....

Because drugs are illegal you do not know who is using them.... maybe even your surgeon??

NOW what would happen if you legalized drugs.....

Drug users would be on public record....

Prices, purity and quality of drugs could be monitored.....

Drug users would not have to be thieves or murderers to support their habit

Billions spent to stop drugs could be used to prevent drug use and treat addicts... some of the money could be provided through a drug tax system.... addicts paying for their own treatment thru drug taxes

Drug cartels / gangs would be put out of business

The legalization of murder would be the violatioin of the rights of others .....the legalization of drugs violates nobodies rights and helps to safeguard society

BTW.....I do not use drugs.....even legal ones

  24. What? C'mon on man! If you legalise drugs, re you going to rush out buy some milk, bread and a couple of rocks of crack, probably not, if you aren't addicted to it.  There will always be those who are addicts, society would not all become opium eaters over night.

Legalise murder, no punishment, well, we would kill people over the most minor slight.  Some swine tail gated me tonight nd I swear if I had a gun I would have used it...we need certain social controls and measures in place to maintain moral order.  People don't hurt other people because we are all god fearing loving saints, we don't behave badly because we don't want to suffer approbrium, shame and lose all morality

Oh and as for legalising prostitution, thats all well and good until the careers advisor asks your daughter or sister at her interview what would you like to be after school, doctor, social worker, teacher, w***e?!  Cos it's ok for a job as long as other peoples' daughters, wives, mothers and sisters are doing it!

  25. Someday it probably will be. Prostitution is yet another example of what they want to make legal since it's so prevelant...

And actually, murder is legal. We have "physician assisted suicide", abortion, and infanticide... so don't worry, it will probably broaden out just as it was during Hitler's reign..

  26. only for morons cough cough
