Question:

Should my 11 year old sister be allowed to watch Titanic?

My parents have never seen Titanic (blieve it or not!) and we just bought the movie. I have seen it, I am 14 and I thought it was great. I am a little concerned about her watching it though. There are very many emotions involved, after all it is about a sinking ship! My parents think it would be ok, but I really don't think she should watch it yet.

How can I get my parents to understand that she is not old enough?

What do you think?

Thank you!

  1. She is old enough. Course she is. Besides its not up to you to decide.

I think she should be allowed watch it if she wants to. Nothing in it is gonna damage her

  2. Yeah, why not?I watched it when I was about 10/11, and nothing was/is wrong with me.

    Hate the movie though.It's boring.

    *prepares for thumbs down*

  3. Hey guess what? Im 11 and my sister said i could watch it! So i did... and she said close your eyes in the nude scenes... my mum and dad said its okay for me to watch it.. (not the nude scenes tho) .... so depending on how sensitive she is... let her... :)

  4. wow are you her mother or her sister?? Stick your butt out of it! At 11 i think she is old enough to watch it... i saw it at 8 and i loved it.. i cried for a good hour but i still loved it. If your parents say its okay then leave it be.

  5. um why wouldn't she be allowed..its a great movie (my all time favourite) i first saw it when i was around 7 years old, even though i didn't really understand what was going on. But yes, i think an 11 year old should be allowed to watch the movie (except for maybe the inappropriate parts, just fastfoward them or something)

    hope this helps =D

  6. Yes, It's definitely fine for an 11 year old.

  7. well its only Rose you actually see naked...... but some of the s*x scenes she probably shouldnt see....

  8. I watched Titanic when I was about 6 years old. And I think it is a fine movie for an 11 year old. Its a very artistic movie. But if you dont think it'll be okay for her explain to your parents what is in the movie.

  9. SHE IS OLD ENOUGH I WATCHED TITANIC AT 3 YEARS OF AGE. IF YOUR PARENTS AREN'T CONCERNED WHY ARE YOU. TRUST THEM SHE WILL BE OKAY.

  10. My 10 year old cousin watched halloween and only sleeps with the light on lol

  11. just explain to your parents what parts u think are not good and why. explain that ur sis is used to something completly different. i see your point and theres some things in the move that she wouldnt understand and shouldnt see.

    good luck!

  12. I think that she should watch it was about that age when it came out and i saw it maybe you should get your parents to watch it and get them to make up there mind

  13. Yeah I think she should watch it. I understand where you are coming from however, it is a very sad movie. I don't think that it will do any kind of damage to her.  It however is based on a historical event so maybe it could get her interested to go study what really happened. That could be an activity you can guide her in, watch the movie, tell her that that's just a story then go get on-line and find out the facts for her to learn. It would be a good experience I think for you two to share in and teach her something.

  14. I watched the Titanic when I was around her age, well, maybe younger-like  around the late '90's. But I wasn't allowed to watch some parts at that time-like the kissing parts sort of stuff.

When I watched it again when I was a lot older, I realized how freaked I would have been if I had seen those certain parts when I was younger.

I think if she was ever was gonna watch it, someone has to explain to her the things she sees in the movie, I mean, the Titanic isn't exactly for someone who's only 11.

If you're really concerned about it, tell your parents to let her wait until she's mature enough to watch it. They obviously haven't seen it yet, and you have, so they can't be sure. Though, she shouldn't be sticking to Barbies any longer at her age. She should still watch the Titanic though, only if she's old enough to understand.

  15. I first watched Titanic when I was about 9 years old. I was fine. It was a great love story and after watching it I wanted to learn more! I think that if you just cover her eyes during the sexual parts, then you will be fine!

    Have Fun!

  16. I think it's ok, if she is mature enough than it should be fine. Besides... the s*x scene really isn't that bad...

  17. She is old enough...I do not see nothing wrong in watching that movie. It is a movie about a true event in history so why would it be wrong to watch?

I have let my 7 year old watch it. It is hard to keep someone that young sitting for that long (2 hours or better for that movie) and my son was so interested in it and it did not scare him or make him cry.

  18. if shes not use to it just show them this and all the answers!

  19. I don't think so.. I watched parts of it (mostly the ending) when I was 10 and I was freaked out of sinking ships, and dead people, etc.. until I watched it again when I turned 13.. I still found it disturbing... I just don't think that she's quite emotionally ready at age 11. Try telling your parents examples of scenes from the movie (like the one where the guy in the rescue boat lifts up the dead girl and her eyes are all freaky, or when Rose is almost shown nude.)

  20. I think she is old enough to watch titanic. its no such big deal really. 11 year old is just fine. dw, watching barbie movies doesnt mean she cant watch titanic, so what if there r emotions involved. no problem. let her watch it n she is old enough.

its gud to see that u care abt her sis so much but she is old enuff, dont fret.

  21. wow overprotective much?

let her watch the d**n movie.
