Should my 7 year old know better than to wee with the seat down or I am expecting too much?

He keeps forgetting to lift the seat therefore if you're not careful you get a very wet bum when u next use the toilet. Is this normal behaviour for a 7 year old or should I punish him. How can I get him to stop it?

  1. my 7yr old has just stated leaving the seatdown (its driving me mad lol) he does it if he is rushing to get back to play, i just call to him when hes going to remind him, or put a sign up, with his name on so it gets his attention, lots of reminders should help him make lifting the seat, its starting to work with my son!

    good luck

  2. Oh my goodness I can't tell you how many times I have went in the bathroom after my 7 year old and sat in his pee.I get so mad but I make him clean it up.But thats not the bad part every once in a while I go in after my husband and the same thing happens and I really tear into him because he is way old enough to know better.Just know you are not the only one going through this. But it's just a boy/man thing.Men don't have  enough consideration to lift the seat. It's just plain laziness.

  3. Yes he should know better... make him clean the toilet and the seat and remind him that everytime he pees with the seat down that is what he will be doing till he can remember to put the seat up. he will remember soon enough...

  4. Look if he is old enough to remember to do other things then he is old enough to remember to put the seat up, and then back down when he is finished. The next time he "forgets" punish him, problem will be solved. Its not a case of forgetting its a case of being lazy, and not caring.

  5. yeah i have the same problem

it sounds mean but i got so tired of it so when i go in there and there was wee on the seat i got him some toilet paper and told him to clean it off

then made him wash his hands

i did this every time for about a week and he has stopped doing it all the time now

  6. Just teach him to put it up my kid does it but i started giving him rewards and punishment now he dosen't do it

  7. Don't punish, But *TEACH*, if he learns to pee by lifting the seat, doing the business, and most importantly *PUTTING THE SEAT DOWN AFTER* :) then he will not know any different way, teaching him the right way is a good habit for him to get into. So it works out well for everyone

Hope i helped :) Good Luck

  8. my son is 7 and he does the same thing sometimes he just forgets..but you shouldn't punish him just give him a little reminder

  9. gees louise hes 7?!?!?!?!?!

well you need to knuckle down buckle down and do it do it do it !

if hes 7 he should know how to do it, dont punish him but be firmer and take little things away. be firm but nice.

    :)

  10. Give him time, he'll learn. Just make sure you remind him, and give him lots of praise when he remembers. He's 7! What's next, you want to try and teach the dog to use the toilet!

  11. Just tell him to sit on the toilet when he pees if he can't remember the seat.
