If she wants to settle and remain at the bottom for the rest of her life sure.  I don't think you can get a "raise" with welfare.  People need to stop depending on welfare and make better of themselves.  I understand it can be hard, but welfare works like this. There is a quote that I remember "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day...Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime".  I mean that if we keep giving out welfare, people will be satisfied just eating the "fish", and not try to go out and do their own "fishing".  I say McCain!

Thats a stupid question. Both of them. To educate yourself on Welfare, If you just quit your job, you will not be eligible for welfare just like that. If her son is 17, she wont get welfare for him anyway, if hse was able, it wouldnt be for very long , as they dont cover a child of that age but for maybe one more year provided he still is in school. And welfare has changed. She would have to be currently looking for a job or enter into a job work program to stay on the welfare if she did get it. And if she recieves anytype of child support, that is deducted up front, and if she doesnt she will have to participate in an active case of making the father pay. It's not as easy as you are trying to put it. And how does your second question interact with the first?

Whether you agree with the Welfare system or not, you end up paying regardless; therefore your point (or complete lack thereof) is pretty much moot.
