I had acl surgery tuesday and they repaired my meniscus cause it was slightly ripped but my leg hurts whenever i get up on my crutches, when im sitting down and my leg is elevated, it's fine with no pain(with the pain pills) but when i try to walk around it's pretty painful(5 on a 1 to 10 scale) is this pain normal?

  1. Its normal, it needs time to settle down.

It will get easier, just give it time. If your pain killers are not doing enough, then go to the doctors. Also, try not to sit around and not walk that will make it worse, the stiffer it gets the worse the pain will get.

    Feel better soon :)

  2. The worst pain in my life had to be when I had torn cartilage in my knee repaired and bone chips removed. On a scale of 1 - 10 it definitely was an 8 or a 9. It took me almost a month to get the strength in my knee back where I could walk without my knee giving out on me which caused me to fall unexpectedly. Plus it took me nearly 2 years until the pain completely subsided. It will get better give it time.

  3. Yes; it is normal.  Try sitting up for a few minutes with your leg touching the floor before you walk around.  This can help stimulate blood flow and help with the pain.
