  1. If you can afford to do it why not go for a holiday and get a feel for the country before you make a decision.  It is a big step to make .  Australians are a "straight up" kind of people and if you are prepared to work and "be Australian" they are very welcoming.

  2. AUSTRALIANS ARE DOORKNOBS....

Don't go there, you will regret it... Maybe UAE, thats nice.

  3. The Uk is the best country in the world!!!

I love the UK, and we had to move from there to Australia. I think Australia is ok, but nothings like England. It is very different though because it's much warmer, it also doesnt snow at many places.

Thrre are good things about Aus. though, like the great barrier reef, the big pineapple, Steve Irwins zoo, Ayers rock, ect. Just dont move to Alice Springs. There's hardly anything here. It really sucks, bcause the only good shop is "Jay Jays"

  4. Why not go for a holiday in an area you would like to live in. Once there you can judge for yourself if you would all fit in as a family.

Of course, you have to have money and jobs, but find out from the people who know and get in tough with the Australian Embassy and ask them to send you information.

I personally would like to live their, but of course I don't like the place. What they don't tell you is more people come back then stay.

My mother in law has a friend who lives outside Perth and to get to the city it is a two hour journey by car and of course a two hour trip back or they can take a train. She told me that his nearest neighbour lived two miles away and he has never met any of his neighbours and he has been there for years.

Anyway, good luck and make the decision you won't regret.

But, I have known friends who went out there after they got married and would not come back here, so there you are

  5. And Australia is even better. Warm weather all year round, no heating bills (though air conditioning is pretty much a norm over there) Its a much better standard of living. If I was younger I'd do it. If you can go, I'd say go.

  6. What does your heart say? Follow your heart not your head. Our heads are full of so much junk; worry, fear, stress ... it's all part of the insecure, wounded ego of mass consciousness and as long as you listen to your ego over your heart, you're going to miss out on a lot.

Many fear change but it almost always seems better for us. We always move forward-don't we? Yes, it appears so.

It's a whole lifestyle change but you can all do it and love it more, if you give it a try. Your husband seems to trust in himself, if not God or fate ...  you can at least trust that he has the best interest of the family at heart.

  7. I'm an Aussie so of course I'm biased, but I honestly believe that you would love it here.

Australia is clean and safe with a wonderful climate and wide open spaces. Our standard of living and lifestyle are among the best in the world and our people are friendly and accepting of newcomers. It really is a land of opportunity where anyone with ability who is prepared to work hard can make a wonderful life for themselves and their family.

Anyone who can afford a house in the UK can also afford one here, but it won't be cheek by jowl with its neighbours and will probably be within easy reach of  the city and beaches.

If you have children, this is the best country in the world in which to raise them. Our public educational system is very good without the problems we hear about in British schools and our private school system is excellent. Our tertiary education produces graduates who are welcomed by employers throughout the world.

Hundreds of thousands of British people including British Asians have already migrated here and very few would feel that it was an unwise move.

Australia IS a very long way from the UK and some immigrants become very homesick to find themselves so far away from family and friends. Some even move back to the UK for a time because of this, only to find that they miss the Australian lifestyle. They come to realise that Australia had offered a better future for their family and a large percentage of them end up back here again.

Come on over - you won't regret it.

    PS:

Don't let Kenzie put you off. She lives in Alice Springs which is in the dead centre of Australia. It's not very big and it's literally thousands of kilometers away from everything. It's OK to visit for a day or two as a tourist, but few people would want to live there permanently. It's nothing like the coastal cities and towns.

    PPS

Fran H says that more return to the UK than stay. That is nonsense. In our 2006 National Census, it showed that 1,038,148 people who were born in the UK were living in Australia. In 2006/2007, 5626 permanent departures of people who were originally from the UK were recorded. Some of these would have been here on Working Holidays and long term work contracts.

  8. Lots of people change their minds, after the weather they just miss too much about the UK, but whilst I also would prefer living in the UK rather than Australia, you might find you like it.

  9. If you do go I'm with you. Cannot wait to leave this country after 47 years, because the Government has made such a mess of it I cannot stand it any more.

  10. move my friend, the uk is getting a harder place to live I was born in the uk and lived in the uk for 36 years so I know it to well, australia is beautiful you will not regret it.

    best wishes on your journey.

  11. Australia is the best place in the world to live. it is cheap to live (depending where you choose to live). plenty of work and a beautiful country to see and live
