  1. Dah, Peru!

  2. Peru is better for learn spanish

And is not so dangerous as you think

  3. I spent 4 months in Chile in college, and felt very safe.  It has a stable government and economy, yet you can still travel cheaply. It doesn't feel like as much of a 3rd world country as Peru does.

  4. Not dangerous as you may think.

Just be aware of your surroindings as she will be  a foreigner.

My choice, if any concerns at all, is Chile first. Lots to see (no Machu Pichu) and friendly people and more modern.

Plus with Lan (Lan Chile and Lan Peru is NOT expensive at all to see both)

to-day a RT flight is about:

    USD150.00!!!!!!

  5. Chile. Up north there is the atacama desert and down south is patagonia. I would say stay out of santiago. I lived in the Concepcion and Chillan areas for two years and didn't have any problems with crimes.

  6. I think she should go to Chile  they are very friendly people. I prefer Chile coz is more interesting

  7. Peru is much bigger as a country and has 4 natural regions (sea, coast, highlands and jungle) so your girlfriend would have more to see. Crime rate is NOT higher right now in Peru compared to Chile. In fact, Santiago is now quite a violent city due to problems in transport and house robbers. Peru is as dangerous as any other country in latin America although in the past years there have been no terrorists and things are much more stable.

In Peru she will have the opportunity to taste wonderful food. Right now in Santiago, the best restaurants are peruvian so why not go straight to Peru and have the best of everything.

Don't get me wrong; I love Chile and have been 7 times there and will probably go there more times as I love that country but you asked for an honest comparison and I just gave you my humble opinion. She should try Peru and if she has the opportunity, she could catch a 3 hour plane to Santiago and visit Chile although in Chile I'd rather to straight to the south and see the beautiful lakes and not stay in Santiago.

  8. I would definitely say Chile. I spent the summer of 2006 there as an exchange student and I'm desperate to go back already. I loved everything about the country. The people there are so friendly and everyone was willing to help me learn and improve my spanish. I lived in the South, the tenth region to be exact, for most of the summer and also in Santiago for a while.  Crime was not a problem for me at all even in Santiago. Santiago does have it's "bad" parts though, but that's the same for any large city. I can definitely guarantee the your girlfriend would have an awesome experience if she went to Chile.
