My husband smokes weed. We have decided that we would like to try and have a baby, but would like to know if him smoking weed will have any negative effect on trying to get pregnant or on the unborn baby. I know that the mother being the one smoking could cause many problems for the baby, but what about the father????

  1. smoking weed, tobacco or drinking alcohol can all have an affect on your husbands sperm production and motility.  make him stop smoking for at least three months before trying to conceive as the sperm production cycle changes every three months.  Best of luck

  2. It does have an affect.  It slows down the process and might take longer to get pregnant.  Plus if you are planning wouldn't you want your child to be very healthy?  He needs to take care of himself before he is going to try to get you pregnant, make sure he doesn't smoke weed, tobacco, etc doesn't drink alcohol or take any kind of harmful drugs.

The first stage -- getting pregnant it is important that you and him are both living a healthy life style

The second stage -- once you are pregnant, it is all up to you.

  3. they say it can cause problems with his fertility but i doubt it.. my dh smoked and we have a perfect son, however he shouldnt smoke it around u or anything like that! good luck!!

  4. THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, actually kills sperm.  This would obviously lower your chances, although conception would still be possible.

People who abuse illegal drugs should wean themselves off of them before having to be responsible for another human being.  My boyfriend's parents smoked weed, and they were awful parents.

Good luck!  I hope your husband can make the right decision!  If you need any help, just direct him to the link.  Babydust!
