my mom was in an accident in january. She was driving about 35 about to come to a stop sign and hit ice. Her durango slid into a 13 foot drop off. The whole bottom of the suv fell out. The air bags did not deploy. She also had another accident in a durango going 45 miles an hour and hit a tree. The car bounced back and rolled. The airbags did not deploy this time either

  1. I would get a driver for your mom.

    Sounds dangerous.

The airbags should deploy if the front end is pushed in and there is suficient momentum to set the switch off.

  2. It will always depend on if the vehicles airbag sensors were hit at an angle or straight on.....

Airbags deploy only when they might be needed to prevent serious injury.

Frontal driver and passenger airbags are designed to inflate in moderate to severe "frontal crashes" equivalent to hitting a solid barrier at 10-12 mph.

Some manufacturers use different inflation thresholds depending on whether people are using their safety belts.

Thresholds of 10-12 mph typically are used for unbelted occupants, but thresholds are higher — about 16 mph — for belted occupants because the belts alone are likely to provide adequate protection up to these moderate speeds.

  3. Sounds like your mom needs a chauffeur

  4. Yo momma needs to retake her drivin test
