Question:

Should my year old be able to say more than just "mama"?

My son just turned 1 and the only thing he can say is mama. He babbles but doesn't make any distinctive sounds. He was a preemie but he's right on schedule for all the physical milestones. And he's super active. His one year check up is next week but I was just wanting some opinions. ♥

  1. you should give him a couple more months because my niece is 18 months and the more  we talk the more words he will say you have to give him time, and repeat certain words over and over .

  2. My daughter spoke loads of words at this age but my son couldn't speak any at the same age!!! all kids are different do not worry he sounds fine to me!

  3. Not unusual. Forming words could start between 9 and 18 months. A wyar form now you will want him to shut up/

  4. my son is 15 months and he says mama, dada, hi, bye, eat, baba for bottle of course, stop, no and dog we have two and he is always after then saying stop dog and they are not even doing anything to him so it is cute.  But keep in mind kids develop at there own pace.  I think what is helping my son is we have older kids and he is watching them and we don't baby talk to him.

  5. I think that is fine, all kids are different and I've heard boys pick up words slower than girls.

  6. every child is different, but that sounds about right to me
