Mickey L where did you get that America is for protecting the Rights of the majority from the minority idea from. The constitution actually is designed to protect the minority from the majority and the Oath of office is proof of that. The second Nascar chooses to use military troops or equipment in it's show it loses it's private business protections excuse for prayer.

  1. but that's just your opinion

  2. What's next the National Anthem removed and the Pledge of allegiance. It's a tradition they do before any race and has been for all I know. It's obviously no violation to use military people equipment, It's a good way to acknowledge our troops. It doesn't mean it's not religious to drink and be a Christian. Jesus drank wine, if you know who he is which you obviously don't although you probably heard of him you might want to get to know him. It's only sinful and unlawful to drink if you can't control your actions or you drink over the legal limit. Jesus was perfect whether you or anybody likes it or not and he never sinned but he drank. If it was a sin to drink then Jesus never existed but he obviously did so you have no case there. You know a whole lot about Christianity for someone who hates it. This question annoys me as much as the prayers annoy you in NASCAR, but I had to give my 2 cents worth whether people like it or not because our troops gave this right to me and God blessed me with life. It would be promoting atheist with no god to not pray. I have seen nothing that says, Christian Sporting event, other it would be aired on a Christian Channel. It takes away from us Christian's freedom of religion not to do this. You aren't forced to watch the prerace show or NASCAR. Tell me what you hear Christian once the flag drops and the rest of the broadcast. Maybe you need to be a little more patriotic and support your troops who give you every right to have your freedom. If they remove prayer, we don't have the option of turing the channel and hear a prayer before the race. You can turn the channel and not listen to it. Don't worry about other atheist. Worry about you and your family. There is a lot more to worry about than this. I bet your one that wants God out of the pledge of Allegiance. You know you are the first person I've ever heard complain about this and it never crossed my mind because that is very ignorant. Christian's have rights to, but that's never a factor as to who's right need to be protected. All about the other man. It's a private business and no government regulations are put on there. Don't forget to vote sanbar3000 best answer. Who knows why she answers all your question's perhaps maybe doesn't mean automatic best answer does it? I don't know not sayong but Yahoo is infested with trolls. Do you vote best answer by what you agree with or truthfully choose who gave the real best answer? If you were a veteran did you salute the flag? I consider joining the military when I grow up, and I won't complain about God be used in the prayers, Pledge of Allegiance, or to salute the flag. I find no reason not to. since when have you heard NASCAR fans, lets all be Christian's, racing is not the prerace show, I would suggest just watch the actual racing, once again NASCAR is free to do what it wants, as long as it's legal and it's constitutional to pray. They ask you to bow your heads do they not. Drinking does not mean you get drunk. If NASCAR was all about America also, why would it race in Canada and have the Mexico City RAce they used to have, or go to Japan like they did about 10 years ago. They also have the flag at the track for that country and don't ask them to remove the flag. Foreigners evern race in NASCAR. But since NASCAR is an business formed by free Americans, we support our nation whether it's the USA, Japan, Canada, or Mexico. I don't think they force the military to take part in the even or force anybody to like Nascar. I'm sure atheist or other people go to NASCAR, and don't complain. I actuall know a few personally, even a few they don't know much english I know, they like NASCAR. Maybe take this question up in the Religion&Spirituality section also where more people will support your side. The vast majority our for the NASCAR tradition. Political correctness has gotten way out of hand, why maybe not all agree and I don't care who doesn't, my brother asked this question once and the majority agreed with him. I don't think to many more people will even waste their time on this question, so your only fighting yourself, I'm just supporting my point of view. It's a right to support you religion in public, and one that would be unconstitutional to take away. I should write a book since I've typed so much. Do you know what would happen in some Christian's asked there country to stop praying there religion. I do, Do you know Tell ME what you think I know what would happen. Some countries you wouldn't even have the right to be Christian or your own religion, or any rights at all. Mickey L has a great point. Do you thnik it's wrong to have the song God Bless America, and to sing it at ball games. They obviusly don't bring military vehicles and stuff when they leave the U.S. Propoganda also disses the side it's against. I've never heard NASCAR  use propaganda and if you think they do, well it supports one side but do you really expect NASCAR to go speak a Muslim prayer or put a statue of buddha out there. People can wear what they want to. It is a free country. They dodn't give a c**p if it offends you or not. They keep right on doing it, because they can. You know, there is a lot I don't like in this country especially where tax dollars go and companies relocating overseas, but I don't complain. It's all out of my control. There is more to worry about than your anti-patriotic beliefs, athiest beliefs or whatever you believe in, and worying about the way people dress. If you've been a NASCAR fan for awhile, you barely even think about prerace ceromonies, you focus on the race and this wouldn't even be a question. Since you know so much about the history of when NASCAR was started, you would never had ask this kind of question, because the prayer has been around in NASCAR forever as far as I know. Running moonshine wasn't the NASCAR part, there racing the moonshine enspired them to create NASCAR. I mean honestly, could you imagine all of those cars on a track with moonshine, one wreck and boom, you blew up. No one agrees with your side. Despite what frusengruen said. You aren't forced to watch NASCAR, praye, sing national anthem, pledge of alllegiance, support our troops, or sing God Bless America. Your just looking for something to complain about. I don't know what kind of veteran but you that doesn't support it's troops. A little respect is alright, praying is not disrespect. It's disrespect to say they can't pray. You just pretty much got owned on this one. Jesus is the Lord and Savior, our father and creater, he is the way, the truth, and the life, he is the alpha and the omega, most of all he dies for our sins, so they we may have everlasting life in heaven.

  3. What political party? I didn't see one. Some people just have to have something to complain about.

  4. Yes. Pray for someone besides Carl or Kyle to win!

  5. Nascar is a private company, Not a government organization.  Therefore, a private organization is exercising its Religious freedom.   Most Nascar fans would actually get mad (and probably most of the drivers) if Nascar did remove the prayers before the race.

Last time a poll was taken, most Americans claimed to be Christian, or Jewish(The same God), and even more so in Southern states, such as Tenessee.   Last I checked, the USA is a Democratic Republic, which means that the wishes of the Majority of the people here are supposed to be more important that those of minorities.   I can say with great certainty that you were part of a very small minority of people watching the pre race festivities that was "disgusted".

Honestly, I would imagine that most Nascar fans would probably be disgusted and offended by this question.   Personally, I think if you have a real problem with it, you should go to the next Race, and Make it a point to boo during the prayer.   That would be the first time I would ever say throwing beer was appropriate at a Nascar event.

  6. I was going to answer, but Mickey L said it all for me already

  7. If prayer was illegal would that not contradict religious freedom? Did the national anthem disgust you too since this country was founded on Christianity?  Another rediculous Liberal. They have always had a prayer before races in Nascar since the beginning. I have been to hundres of races since the 70s and Ive never seen anybody have a problem or get disgusted. I agree, you are ignorant.

  8. this isn't a government owned sport so the whole thing about religious freedom doesn't really apply, the religious freedom applies to the government but anyway it isn't just one religion i mean i guess it is because all of them are christian but they have had so many different denominations lead the prayer: lutheran, methodist, baptist, etc...

  9. The first thing to realize is that NASCAR does not hold prayer before the race for any other reason than their christian zealot fanbase. They are appeasing them for the money. It's simply business. If there were to hold a race in Saudi Arabia tomorrow with a predominantly Muslim crowd you'd get whatever that religion does before an event. Doesn't make it any better or worse, it's just what is for the big business that is NASCAR.

  10. Yeah, the majority of people there are all for it! Religious freedom doesn't mean freedom from religion. If Nascar as a private owned organization wants to have prayer they can!

Lighten up a little and enjoy life and worship whatever you desire, you are free to do that.

  11. If you don't like it, turn it.

  12. Hmm, I think this question all boils down to ethics. I guess if the drivers are okay with the praying, then it's okay.

In life, we can not please everyone all of the time. We can only please some of the people, some of the time.  If we were to live our life like, "Who will I offend today if I do a,b,c and h what will happen?" ---then no one will get anything done.

You may want to research Nascar and see if it is based on anything Christian. Nascar started in the south, did it not?  You may want to find who (the one person or group of people) that started Nascar. May be this person was a Christian or a person of faith?  I'm not sure.

I'm sure that if there were some drivers or fans in the stands that did not like the prayer, they can write to Nascar and state their opinion.  However, as a free country, we can not stop other people from praying.  The law (made out of words) does not and can not provide a way for us to say "Oh, you can't pray in a public place".

This is why we have judges and attorneys.  Taking a business law class will help you greatly with the ethics dilemma and how it applies to all of us!   I know that I'm taking another law class. Remember-- The law is made up of words. This is why it is so important to define what words mean.

  13. The kids dressed in red, white, and blue had nothing to do with any political party. It's just something that they do at Bristol every year with the children of the drivers and crew members. And the prayer tends to be non denominational. If you don't like it, you don't have to watch. I was at the Bristol race tonight and enjoyed the pre race ceremonies.
