Should oil prices be raised to promote Energy Independance?

No. I believe petroleum prices have reached the point where the free enterprise system will make alternatives happen. From what I read and experience, there are millions having big time issues with budgeting for the price of fuel, Right Now. Don't think we need to add to their burden. I believe it is better in these hard economic times to leave ever dollar possible in the pockets of the consumer.

No.  Your understand of basic economics is zero. Higher prices mean less sales, means less work, means less wages, means less money people to spend, means economic slowdown.  That benefits no one.
