Six mega-corporations control most of what you see on TV news. Do you want them controlling your local newspapers, too?

That could happen unless Congress acts soon to prevent our local media outlets from getting swallowed up. The FCC recently gutted rules that prevent one company from owning both the major daily newspaper and TV station in the same market.

Cross-ownership of TV stations and newspapers has been banned for 30 years for good reason -- so we can have a diverse, competitive local media. We have fewer locally owned media outlets today than ever before, at a time when we need good information.

Congress has only a few weeks left to overturn this bad decision.

  1. Hey Courage< Thanks once again for bringing just this type of Corruption to our attention. This same kinda thing happened in my home town of Mil. WI. The Mil. Journal swallowed up the smaller competitor The Mil. Sentinel leaving us with all one sided stories.

This stinks of Big $$$ and or The Bush administration. Bush put a blood relative in a head position at the F.C.C. This joker has issued  more fines to radio Jocks etc. for bad language & such than have been issued in the entire history of the FCC! Yet another example of how our freedom of speech is being stifled.  With GW leaving it has become very obvious the the GOP has picked up the pace in there efforts to do away with any and all media outlets that can or will expose the depth of there coruption.

Had the media done there jobs after 9-11 and reported the facts instead of the propaganda (lies) put out by the Bush administration the American people would have never allowed Bush & Crooked d**k to kill over 4000 of our brave troops and approx.750,000 inocent Iraqis fighting a FOR PROFIT war ! It seems that the news they cant manipulate they find a way to stifle and you have shown us another blatant  example of this

  2. Nobody says you can't find other sources for your news. The internet is an amazing thing.

Oh no! The media is bias! Lets look to the government to make it all better!

"Congress has only a few weeks left to overturn this bad decision"

Don't look to this Congress to do anything productive. They have passed fewer laws than any other Congress in the last 20 years, 1/4 of which were "symbolic." No other Congress has passed as many symbolic measures than this one...good work guys!
