Six mega-corporations control most of what you see on TV news. Do you want them controlling your local newspapers, too?
That could happen unless Congress acts soon to prevent our local media outlets from getting swallowed up. The FCC recently gutted rules that prevent one company from owning both the major daily newspaper and TV station in the same market.
Cross-ownership of TV stations and newspapers has been banned for 30 years for good reason -- so we can have a diverse, competitive local media. We have fewer locally owned media outlets today than ever before, at a time when we need good information.
Congress has only a few weeks left to overturn this bad decision.
