Personnally, I believe the state and doctors should make that decision and take it out of the control of the parents. But the full question is;

Should parents have the right to terminate their developmentally disabled children, with in the first 28 days of birth?

  1. No. Not at all. Not ever.

  2. I think you need to be much more clear about your question.  Once a child is born you cannot choose to kill the child simply because he or she is not "perfect".  Please clarify "developmentally disabled " because this sounds like a very sick question.  I can understand if an infant is born struggling to live and suffering but anything aside from that I believe we call "ethnic cleansing" in some countries.  (Not really, but you get my point)  What would we call this?  Intelligence cleansing?

  3. h**l NO!!!

  4. Lord no!  It's terrible to kill a child because of an imperfection or for any reason.  I have to go with Just DaD's answer.

  5. You are an idiot!

By your reasoning, if a child were in a car accident and suffered brain damage, it should also be "terminated".

We are handed what life gives out - and we take it and do the best we can with it.

Developmentally delayed children do not necessarily have poor quality lives nor live in pain.

    What an absolutely stupid suggestion.

  6. What are you some sort of n**i starting a eugenics program to murder newborn babies that are not good enough for you? And also giving the state the right to do that regardless of what the parent's want. Germany did that in the 1930's and 1940s. Geez.

And what would be your definition of developmentally disabled children?

It is obvious you're an immature troll trying to press people's hot buttons. Congratulations.

  7. It depends on how severely disabled the child is. For Downs Syndrome, Aspergers Syndrome and similar, no. They can get enough education and training to be a productive member of society and give back as much as they "cost" and live mostly independently.

Babies born *severely* mentally disabled, the kind that has little brain function and have to be intensively cared for the rest of their lives, yes, they should be terminated as soon as they are diagnosed.

I know a parent who has spent her entire adult life caring for her (now adult) child who was born little more than a "vegetable. Her day is made if her daughter has enough awareness to follow her with her eyes. These baby-bodies are born with no human intelligence, they just look human.

If a "normal" person ended up like this because of accident or illness the family would be given the option of withdrawing life support and food and let the person go. But these babies are born with no vestige of humanity, and are kept around for, well, I don't know why.

For physical disabilities, absolutely not. A person with a physical disability can contribute with their brain (Stephen Hawking, anyone?) if provided with the appropriate tools.  But the question is about developmental disabilities (retardation and similar).

  8. My cousin had a baby gurl named Dani and she cant walk, talk or do anything, and ifeel terrible. They didnt know though. Now she is kinda a cripple.  I think the parent should keep the baby or give it up for adoption.  It depends. Here is my cousins site.   http://www.fortheloveofdani.com/   you can check it out. Maybe

  9. YES

  10. You mean AFTER they are born?......OH.........I think parents should be able to decide if they want their child to be revived or placed on life support if they are in a bad way and suffering a great deal. Euthanasia.......I am not so sure about that one s**t.

  11. are you talking about killing a newborn because its not perfect!??? thats sick!!! thats like what the ancient romans used to do. dont like the way they came out, throw them off a cliff!! I think that's wrong. OMG, wat a sad thought. poor little babies!!!!!

  12. You are talking about killing a living human being.  That is murder in any state of the union.  So, my answer is no.  If you can't deal with the situation, then turn the baby over to the state for adoption.

  13. Something happens to you and you become developmentally disabled, the person having to take care of you should be able to terminate you with in 28 days right?

  14. Absolutely not, s**t!! Why, if parents had these rights, yours may have decided to do so with you when you started to exhibit your strange intellect, and then where would the world be??

Why, when I get a chance to read some of your q&a's, I am simply amazed that someone can think some of these things up!!

Surely your folks would miss all this in their lives???

And if it was left up to the state and Drs.---Oh, no, I surely would NOT WANT TO WISH YOUR FATE ON ONE OF THEM !!

  15. touchy touchy subject you know, I was born with Spina Bifida...with your logic i shouldn't of been born as this happens within the first trimester.

There are the laws that allow parents to terminate (abort) healthy children....so technically at this point parents do have this right...more so the mother then father as it is her body. Anyhow, I think its wrong to ask this. You are going back too many years...rather then wanting the country to evolve and grow you want to set them back...as if you give the state and Doctors the right to choose who lives and who dies....welll chances are many will die.

I am almost 25 years old...its been a rough road, however God has a plan for me and every other person...he made it harder for me because I can handle it...to humble people around me. It has made me a stronger person...it got my mom to go back to school...she wanted to for years but didn't...she did it for me..to take care of me but also to fullfil her dream of a college education. If it wasn't for me she would of never gotten where she is today and I know it. I was a blessing in desgise. Anyhow, I would trade my life for anyone elses as it is hard as h**l, however, since I can't i take it one day at a time and look at the positives each day and realize that I have made a difference in this world...so there IS a reason for us with disabilities....its hard for everyone around..but its also a blessing and a learning experience.

  16. if your talkin about life support well the reason i say yes is becuase they are the ones who has to pay for the hospital cost etc. but i know someone whos mom has been in a coma from since his birth 24 years and they havent takin her off yet which show that they have faith!

    oh a baby well NO!

  17. Nobody should be allowed to kill a baby, abortions is bad enough but after that 12th week nothing should be allowed to be done to kill the baby especially after birth or once considered viable.  No baby is "perfect" and some disabilities don't even show up until they are more like 3 years old or even older.
