No, bicycle do not need number plates.  First off a driver's license is not required to operate a bicycle on a public road.  Second, when I purchased my bicycles, I paid sales tax.  That   tax money goes toward road repair.  My bicycle is not inflicting wear and tear on the roads.  Your car or truck is.  While I agree with some of the comments regarding the unsafe manner some bicyclists ride, as for causing injuries to others, that comment is absurd.  Chances are really good that if I hit a pedestrian, I am going down and getting hurt.  I can say for a fact I do not want to get hurt when I ride my bike.  One other point to ponder, when I use my  bicycle as transportation I am saving fuel and getting exercise to boot.  So when you see a rider, give the rider a little bit of room,  he or she may be riding to work, school, or running errands.  Remember, drive defensively.  Be prepared for anything on the road.

Theres no reason in the world they should have number plates .Get real theres to much do this and do that in this country It would only be something else to be abused.

I think that some form of identification on bikes should be made law.

The way some cyclists ride they should be traceable like all other road vehicles.

They can ride dangerously, cause accidents and injure people and then just ride off into obscurity.

They should also have to have insurance.

Don`t think that an mot or road tax is necessary though.
