I mean if they are to blame,I have to admit if I as a driver ran some jaywalking pedestrian over I would sue them or their relatives.I am mainly on about the chavs who play chicken and walk out in front of you practicaly daring you to hit them.Of course if you did they would run(if able) home crying for mum.

  1. yes any other country they would be fined or jailed ?but here its always the driver that's at fault.

  2. Death race 2000 got it about right points make prizes and rids the streets of these anti social louts.

  3. go for it. good hunting!!

  4. Yes they bloody well should!...especially youths who think its cool to stroll purposely draggin their feet across the road to impress their idiotic friends making you stop...well im sorry but the youth who tried this with me nearly went home with no ****!!...oh yea i didnt reduce speed and i carried on my merry way at the right speed nearly whippin his **** off!....he soon jumped to the kerb whaaaaaaaa i laffed so much!;)

  5. Nice idea but flawed.

Too difficult to define legally whether the pedestrian was walking without due care and attention, or even with intent to endanger life, or whether simply unfortunate or a pillock.

I would, however, like to see it made illegal for cars to be deemed unsafe when the driver's view is inhibited by "baby (or whatever) on board" stickers. The baby isn't driving. Its safety isn't my concern, it rests with the driver. And as for "show dogs"??? WTF? Who cares??

  6. i think you will find that they are especially if they are under the influence or have been deliberately negligent.

  7. yes ! YES!! yeesssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!................ pedestrians and cyclists should only be allowed out between 2 & 5 am

  8. They are. Under the Road Traffic Act there are rules for pedestrians just like motorists.

    xxFJ

  9. From all that I have read yes they should do something, here in the U.S. they have to follow the rules of the road so that they do not create an accident and it works.

Here are a couple of laws......

No pedestrian shall suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is so close as to constitute a hazard.

Every pedestrian crossing a roadway at any point other than within a crosswalk at an intersection or any marked crosswalk shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway.

Any pedestrian crossing a roadway at a point where a pedestrian tunnel or overhead pedestrian crossing has been provided shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway.

Between adjacent intersections in urban districts at which traffic-control signals are in operation pedestrians shall not cross at any place except in a marked crosswalk.

  10. Jaywalking should be a punishable practice in the UK because it can be life threatening behaviour.

"Hard" teenagers strolling out, daring you not to stop is just one version of pedestrian hazards drivers face.

Daredevil cyclists, kamikaze busdrivers and trains that use roads but bend in the middle, are just some of the others.

To equitably deal with the behavourial puzzle that is Britain's traffic, there is no better solution than the experienced traffic cop.

And you get a reduction in crime thrown in!
