  1. its already against the law in the UK.

But how is this an alternative fuels question?

  2. Driving with mobile phones is already illegal in the UK. Studies show that using a mobile phone decreases driver reaction times making accidents more likely.

  3. no they should not drive a car and talk on a mobile phone --- it is indeed against the law but i fear it (talking on mobiles ) is not well enough policed .

when it will stop !? --- when there are enough statistics gathered to prove that someone's life was wasted because of a car accident purely on the evidence that the accident was caused (created ) by a persons lack of concentration by way that they were talking on a mobile phone --- even a hands free phone is no excuse --- but sadly people continue to do it -- as i say --- stats will get someone thinking .

    good luck .

as a footnote the old 'doors " song had the lines --- " keep your eye on the road , and your thoughts behind the wheel !!"

  4. i think the real danger is when you are dialling a number - then your eyes are not on the road.

i have a hands free kit and they are toying with banning it but i believe that it is no more distracting than talking to a passenger in your car.

also what is the difference between talking on a mobile and being a policeman doing a high speed car chase whilst giving a running commentary on a hand held radio mic?

people say they are trained to do so but i have done police driver training courses and they are no more qualified than many drivers on the road today (see IAM courses - based on police driving).

however after all that - yes - i don't believe that people should use hand held mobile phones whilst driving (phew!)

finally by answering your question i now will have 300 points - i don't know the significance of this but when i click on submit i will find out!

    addition

    =======

it makes no difference - i just have 300 points.

  5. unfortunatly the police these days don`t have the time nor inclination to bother with this sort of thing unless their crime reports are down or they come across an accident where the peerson concerned admitted the offence

  6. i love watching people do that.

BUT.....i DOUBLY love it when i can see the looks on their faces when they ARE pulled over by the Police AND Fined for it........boy do they whinge and Bi--h about having `broken` the Law.  it`s in the news , it`s a Traffic Regulation Offence , and STILL Clowns chose to ignore the Fact.

    I say.......TOUGH for them!!!!!!

  7. Driving while talking on cell phones is already illegal  in CA. People who do this are distracted, and perform about as well as a drunk driver. Don't do it. If you must talk, use a headset or built-in system.

  8. I simply can't understand why this is an issue.  SURELY anybody can see that holding a mobile phone in your hands whilst driving is extremely dangerous and I would apply this to cigarettes, food, drinks, maps etc., also.

My Bluetooth handsfree kit cost £20.  It is simplicity itself to use and is totally legal.  My phone is usually in the pocket of my jeans or in my handbag.  I don't have to touch it if anybody calls me as I have it set to 'auto answer'.  The fine is, I believe, a £1,000 here in the UK and, in my opinion, should be triple plus 1 year driving ban as there is simply no excuse for using a mobile hand-held.

  9. It IS illegal in the UK. There should be a £1000 fine and 6points on their licence.

Patrols dedicated to catching the thousand and thousands who everyday use their mobile phone, endangering other road users and pedestrians.

Hit em hard in the wallet and their licence, that will stop the fools.

  10. it is already against the law to use a mobile phone when driving.

I wonder when they will make kids in the car illegal as they distract more than anything!

  11. they wont stop same as smoking people will do it cause they think nothing of it like speeding and the like.. unfortunate then

  12. I think you're saying generally aren't you -  ie no talking on the mobile at all even if handsfree, which is still currently legal.

Well, I don't think that's any more distracting than talking to someone next to you (who you may be inclined to look at sometimes).  And it's nowhere near as distracting as a car full of kids!!

If you're talking about holding a device well that is already illegal, though many ignore it - I'm a terrible car texter and know I should stop.

  13. it is already the law in the uk, you can be fined on the spot and points on licence, but the police don't seem to be enforcing it.

  14. its already against the law

  15. I believe that the book should be thrown against those who drive while talking on a mobile phone!!

  16. no they should not it is illegal to drive and be on the phone.

  17. In the UK it is already illegal to use a handheld mobile device whilst driving.

It has always been illegal to drive dangerously and this covered the use before the current legislation.

However it would be fair to say I have seen some people just chatting to the person next to them or the kids in the back driving more dangerously than anyone I have ever seen using a mobile phone.  Each person needs to take responsibility for their own behaviour on the road.

  18. people need to pay more attention to the job at hand, they are really to preoccupied to be driving will on the phone
